I just gave my son his present for the first night of Hanukkah - a pair of slipper socks. We are both getting old; I thought it would be a nice present and he was happy to get them. : )

What is most inspiring about the photos you posted is the fact that Chanukah celebrations were not allowed to take place in Berlin, Moscow, or Budapest not all that long ago.

The Hanukkah holiday, or the Festival of Lights, is one of the most important Jewish holidays and is celebrated by Jews worldwide. REUTERS

Yet another case of Reuters getting it ALL wrong when it comes to Jews.

Hanukkah (or any of the myriad other spellings) is really a rather minor holiday, in relation to any other Jewish holidays. Of course, because of the fact that it occurs around Christmas time (it's pretty early this year, base on a lunar calendar), many people make it out to be the "Jewish Christmas."

I don't think anyone noticed the first time, but this is a photo of my son, at the Hanukkah celebration in Moscow.

FReepMail to be added or removed from this pro-Israel/Judaic/Russian Jewry ping list.

Warning! This is a high-volume ping list.
