You’re relying on the friend (under some stress at the time) to remember and quote the 911 operator accurately, the reporter to quote the friend accurately, and the editor not to mangle the quote to give himself/herself something to justify his/her paycheck. That’s three possible sources of error.

Before Tillie could fire again, Alexis jumped over the seat between her mother and the gunman and begged him not to shoot her mother.

The police report said Tillie "without hesitation" pumped six shots into the child.

As police arrived, they saw Parker, covered in blood, running from the truck, screaming, "He just shot my baby."

The officers said Tillie came out to the vehicle holding a blue steel 9 mm semi automatic and dropped the weapon when ordered to do so.

Threats have little priority with police departments. It wasn’t until shots were fired and reported that this became a priority call.

I remember reading a story about how 4 NYPD cops burst through a door into a darkened 10x12 bedroom and were confronted by an armed suspect. Something like 24 shots were fired, and nobody got hit.

Incidents such as this point up the importance of each of us taking on the responsibility for our own defense. The police cannot keep us safe. The vast majority of the time, they respond only after the fact (by default). They cannot protect you, your children, or your property. We must take it on ourselves to maintain our safety and that of our families and property.

I remember reading a story a couple of years ago - it has probably been longer - where a very rookie female officer in Detroit brought down two people with one bullet. I don’t remember what happened to them. I tried to do a quick search to find the article, but couldn't.

It depends on whether or not my BS meter is ringing. This article and story only make my BS meter move a bit when the woman said the 911 operator hung up on her and on the second call claimed there were no units in the area. Shooting the 7 year old girl 6 times while she is trying to protect her mom seems pretty straight up by all accounts. Factor in the girls other health problems with this incident and most parents (even when it isn’t our own child) go into lion mode.

Oh, and I did make the mental note that mom was so smart she was dating a 4 time felon...

The friend called from a cell phone. The attendant probably called from a land line. Cell phone 911 calls don't always go where they're supposed to go. Sometimes the wrong station gets the call and transfers it; that might be why the caller thought she had been hung up on. I called 911 on a cell in Cleveland and got transferred twice; fortunately, by the time I found someone to talk to me, the police had already arrived.

I’m appalled that more folks have not been shocked into action by the goings-on in many of our larger cities. Of course, as long as the Libs have some measure of control over the various media outlets, we have to dig for the facts, which many folks can’t or won’t do. Many have become complacent and coddled into submission by a government of entitlements that are nowhere mentioned in any of the founding documents.
I hope the populace wakes up before it’s too late.

I am regularly amazed at the lack of support for victims by many of the lib/dems; in many cases falling just short of blaming them for their predicament. Our society of tolerance and entitlement has gotten way out of hand; and, I fear that righting the ship won’t be easy, or painless.
