Black Firefighter Admits Placing Noose, Note [But since he's black, he won't be charged]

A black firefighter admitted he placed a knotted rope and threatening note with a drawing of a noose in an East Baltimore fire station last month.

The firefighter has since been suspended for other performance-related issues, but will also likely face additional punishment for his act, officials said.

City officials said the man admitted to the hoax and will not face criminal charges.

Officials identified the man as Donald Maynard, a firefighter-paramedic apprentice who is black.

The incident sparked outrage and led to a federal investigation into charges of racism. It was also the latest in a series of other incidents over the past year, including the death of a recruit in a training exercise and accusations of racism.

The hoax report came one day after news that the top performers on two recent fire department promotions tests cheated.

A black firefighters group had called accusations of cheating racially motivated after union officials questioned the test scores. But the investigation found that five African-American firefighters had studied by using a 2001 exam, which is against test protocol, local news agencies reported.

Mr. Maynard's punishment could include being fired, officials said.

The incident sparked outrage and led to a federal investigation into charges of racism.

So this guy files false police reports, wastes Federal Money (aka: ours) on an investigation of a crime that didn't occur, apparently LIED TO FEDERAL INVESTIGATORS, but he's only going to get 'disciplined' or at the worst maybe fired?

Uh, why again was Scooter Libby indicted, convicted, and sentenced to prison? Wasn't it something about 'lying' and 'federal investigators'. /s

Cries of racism are now tools that be used to benefit the accuser. This makes it very difficult to take them seriously, especially when racism is so rare that incidents they have to be faked.

Hmmmmm . . . isn’t faking a racist incident . . . racist?

Obviously, you are searching for ANY excuse to denigrate this man, so that makes you a racist!

/ sarcasm, just in case.

F that!

Anyone faking a hate crime should have to face the same maximum punishment that an offender would face.

Any intentional false accusation should have the same punishment that would have occurred if the falsely accused were convicted of the crime.

False rape accusations should have a prison sentence equivalent to a convicted rapist.

False “hate crimes”, or faking a hate crime should have the same sentence as committing the “hate crime”.

Uh uh, you used the word “denigrate”, which I’m almost positive is really, really racist. I’m telling the Admin Mods and Jesse Jackson.

If naked dancing, flag burning and t-shirts with profanity are accepted as free speech, then why not this? Double standard B.S.

**** My father always said that there will be a civil war someday with the minorities and the whites in this country ****

Don't know how old you are, but back in the early to mid 70's that was 'the talk on the street', even 'up here' in Chicago-land. Every guy I knew and hung with at the local watering hole was 'arming up'.

That's also when I bought my 1st 'good gun'. A Colt Detective Special (still have it) and Super Vel's for ammo (hat tip from a CPD Narc).

I agree, with discretion on the part of the judge to deviate down from the sentence based on circumstances.

I’m 41 and he started talking about a civil war in the 70’s. He figured it would happen in my lifetime, but probably not his. He passed away 4 years ago. I think he’s right. I’m ready for it when it does happen, but I’m hoping that things would change course in this country pertaining to race, but don’t think it will happen.

My life experiences tell me that more than half of the reports of racist activities are minorities either crying out for help for themselves or attempts to inflame a situation they find themselves in.

OH oh, subjecting people that knowingly make false racist charges liable to tough criminal law may make a victim of a racist crime afraid to come forward for fear of being falsely accused and convicted of the crime himself........anyway that would be the liberal spin.....
