BOGOTA, Colombia, -- Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez on Wednesday used a four-letter expletive to dismiss the opposition victory in Sunday's referendum and pledged to press forward with plans to approve constitutional changes that would expand his power in one of the world's leading oil producing-countries. Chavez's remarks, made on television programs broadcast in Venezuela, represent a sharp turn from his magnanimous comments Monday after voters narrowly blocked 69 constitutional changes in a national vote... "We didn't lose anything. Prepare yourself because a new offensive will come with a proposed reform -- that one, or transformed, or simplified," he said.
...He said that with enough signatures, he could propose another referendum, "in other conditions, in another moment." Addressing his foes, he added: "I wouldn't sing victory, opposition misters."
The comments came after Venezuelan newspapers reported Wednesday that Chavez ceded to his foes in the pre-dawn hours Monday only after high-ranking military officers pressured him to do so....
He also said that if the opposition had risen up against his government during the referendum, he had a plan in place to take anti-government television stations off the air and confiscate their equipment....the president continued to sound triumphant Wednesday, saying, "I haven't been weakened, nor have I been pushed back one millimeter." He also had harsh words for his archenemy, the Bush administration..."Check because your fist could be wounded," he said, in comments directed at the United States, "You could have a fractured finger."

Hey hugo, this must have been one hell of a kick in the ego eh pal? Must s*ck to be you.......
“I’ll kill you all! Especially you, you b*stard voters!”
Its going to get bloody soon in Venezula.
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
WAWAWA!....Cry me a river!
Typical leftist crybaby. They have no class. They don’t get their way and immediately go into childlike behavior mode.
"No, jefe, we will not kill those 'traitor bastards'".
Check because your teeth might be missing, runt.
He will not go quietly in the night.
The fight has just begun.
I expect to see new controls and military force brought out to control all those who do not tow the line.
Chavez has already brought in foreign troops from Cuba to do some of his dirty work.
If his Venezualan opposition does not mount a good political offensive now to further hamstring this nascent dictator-for-life, they will have lost their timely chance for decades.
Encontre la palabra mala: “Califica Chávez como una ‘victoria de mierda’ el triunfo de la oposición”
He was cruising down the commie highway and got sideswiped by democracy.
Surely he has the power to fix elections. Why didn’t he just do that? Jimmy Carter and the rest of the freedom haters would have backed him up.
Do what? This fool is making even less sense than usual.
“It’s going to get bloody soon in Venezuela”. I agree. Don’t be surprised to see the Military led by the former Defense Minister take him out and declare marshall law. People are beginning to realize he is a dangerous nut case.
He's starting to sound exactly like Baghdad Bob when the walls were burning down around him.
Of course Hugo will now kill a lot of people to get passed this moment of sanity, but hey, there was a moment.
And the entire middle class will move to Miami.
Yes, they are.
That ‘sulfur speech’ to the UN informed the entire world he’s a nutcase.
>>>>People are beginning to realize he is a dangerous nut case.<<<<
Thats not what I heard....I read over at DU that he was a humanitarian and it rained unicorns and gumdrops in Venezuela. Everyone knows that the only dictators in the world is evil fascist neocons.

That happened long ago, and its just continuing. I went to school with a young lady who’s family did the same in the mid 1970’s.
Was that a direct THREAT to the sitting president of the United States, Mr. Chavez? Well, now I think the Secret Service and NSA might want to have a little “talk” with a few prime “opposition leaders” and offer some benies for putting a bullet or two into this worthless scumbag’s chest!
Defeat creates another psycho-ruler.
A little Latin America History here shows that Military Coups are the norm.
I’d be very surprised if those conversations haven’t been ongoing since Baby Hugo began muttering a few years back.
He probably tried to fix this one and the No vote was just so overwhelming that he found out he hadn’t fixed it enough.
I think Chavez’s days may very well be numbered.
Good to see Huey in his customary statesmanlike form. This one was embarrassing but he still has everything he needs to get whatever else he needs. He just can't have it all at once. You can't keep a good thug down.
Yup. Interesting that his military officers warned him to cede defeat...

Hilarious!
I guess he broke our finger with his nose.
Mierda. Which is Spanish for s**t. And he used it three times, including once to describe the opposition.
Porque no te callas?
In other words, the people of Venezuela will keep voting until they get it right.
Claro que si. Es un sin verguenza.
Thanks to Jimmy Carter & his ‘Rat cohorts, we no longer have the capability to supply a solution to the Chavez problem ... a 7.62 mm solution, right between the eyes. Let’s hope there’s someone in the Venezuelan army now that loves freedom more than ‘Ugo hates the Yanqui, and can provide that solution.
It’s not a mirror. It’s one of those paddles with a rubber ball on a rubber band toys.
TURN THOSE MACHINES BACK ON! TURN THOSE MACHINES BACK ON!
Chavez thinks he is Castro. He’s not even Juan Peron. In reality, he reminds me of a certain Louisiana politician of some decades back who promised to make “every man a king” while calling out the National Guard on his opponents. Maybe old Hugo will go the inglorious way of Huey Long: getting shot by his own bodyguards in the course of being “protected” from a disgruntled former supporter.
Or he didn’t think he would need to fix it. He thought he had this in the bag. I think this was a huge surprise to him.
Oh yeah, he’s a little lamb. And so were his military commander flunkies, all neatly arrayed and clapping behind him.
Just like bill clinton and jimmy carter.
BClinton is running hilary for pres, so he can be first lady.
Is chavez married?
Any bets on how long they let him breath free oxygen?
Anyone who thinks the recent vote is anything more than a temporary setback for Chavez is mistaken. He is still scheduled to remain in office for several more years. He is not going to let an election stand in his way from becoming Outh America’s Castro,
