Huckabee: God Wants Me to Be President
Outside the Beltway ^ | 12/6/07 | James Joyner

Posted on 12/06/2007 1:55:33 PM PST by pissant

God wants Mike Huckabee to be President. Is there any other way to interpret this?

STUDENT: Recent polls show you surging… What do you attribute this surge to?

HUCKABEE: There’s only one explanation for it, and it’s not a human one. It’s the same power that helped a little boy with two fish and five loaves feed a crowd of five thousand people. (Applause) That’s the only way that our campaign can be doing what it’s doing. And I’m not being facetious nor am I trying to be trite. There literally are thousands of people across this country who are praying that a little will become much, and it has. And it defies all explanation, it has confounded the pundits. And I’m enjoying every minute of them trying to figure it out, and until they look at it, from a, just experience beyond human, they’ll never figure it out. And it’s probably just as well. That’s honestly why it’s happening.

The irony is that Huckabee is saying this with sincere humility — it’s divine intervention, not the power of one mere man at work — but it’s an incredibly arrogant thing to say.

Jim Geraghty has the best line I’ve seen on this so far: “Wow. Huckabee’s been endorsed by both Chuck Norris AND Jesus Christ.”

And the little boy turned out to be Hitler!

Little boy, wasn't he was 33 when he was crucified?

2 fish and five loaves of bread, a little heavy on the carbs but at least some Omega 3 and protein for the Huckster’s I lost 100 pounds and so will you (or else) diet plan.

Huckabee is a media wet dream. After they prop him up for the GOP nomination they are going to shred him. The irony of all ironies is that Huckabee practically a Clinton clone in the way he plays politics.

Yea, he’s being a little too flippant here. The little boy had the loaves and fishes to offer... but he didn’t feed the multitude.

I still don’t like this guy. I’m not praying for his candidacy but for the real miracle guy... It will take a miracle for Duncan Hunter to get where America needs him to be.

"Is there any other way to interpret this?"

Yes.

"There literally are thousands of people across this country who are praying that a little will become much, and it has."

He's talking about thousands of people joining in prayer. He's gaining the support of many Christians and it's a growing movement. Makes sense that his poll numbers would improve likewise.

I believe that God is allowing things to play out on this old planet. What point is there in correcting or directing every activity on earth, if evil is to be allowed to show itself for what it is?

In due time God will intercede on man’s behalf, but not until it is dramatically clear that evil is evil and that man would utterly destroy himself if He didn’t.

The wages of sin must be overwhelmingly clear, not just for us but for all beings in God’s universe.

UPDATE: ChubbyChaser offers the obvious retort: “I guess this means Huckabee thinks his supporters in New Hampshire are really sh–ty at praying, since he’s in fourth place there with single-digit poll numbers. Either that or the Granite State’s recently-installed God Blocker 9000 (TM) anti-divinity force-field is working quite well.”

I don't have a Bible handy but didn't his Disciples ask Jesus how he was going to feed the multitude and Jesus asked them to gather up what they had and then Jesus broke the bread and fed the multitude or are you joking?
