HONEY BROOK, Pa. (Map, News) - A simple traffic stop in Chester County ended up involving a buggy and a truck before police captured a man wanted on warrants from three counties.
State police say a trooper tried to pull a car over Thursday on Route 322 but the driver took off, drove into a parking lot, abandoned the vehicle and ran through neighborhoods and fields.
He jumped into a moving Amish buggy, but jumped out when troopers closed in and ran into a cornfield. Then a motorist in a dry wall truck offered troopers a lift and they surrounded the man in the cornfield.
Twenty-two-year-old Joshua McElyea, of Narvon, was jailed in lieu of $25,000 bail. Police say he's wanted for theft and criminal mischief in Chester County, burglary and assault in Berks County and a probation violation in Lancaster County.

Yeah, but those horse droppings really slowed down the police.

I need a diagram. The officers ran into the cornfield. Then they ran out of the cornfield and hopped onto a passing truck. Then somehow the truck and the officers went back into the cornfield and “surrounded” the bad guys.

What kind of background music would you use for an Amish chase scene? I'm thinking Ravel's Bolero might work.... Slow-paced, yet full of building tension ... and you could time it to coincide with the clip-clop of the hooves.

I think we have a winner! You just have to speed up the film about 300% and have the buggy followed by 10 buxom girls in bikinis. And that works for me. ;-)

He jumped into a moving Amish buggy, but jumped out when troopers closed in and ran into a cornfield. Why would the troopers run into a cornfield, when the perp was in the buggy? And what was the perp doing in the buggy - listening to Amish radio?

SHUCKS! Corny, but this perp's unique getaway style got him locked away faster than you can sing 'Bringing in the Sheaves.'
Amish is good as a mile, unless it's on foot and the Keystone State Cops are on a drywall truck.

We know an Amish family in the area. One of the sons of the house has a tricked out Yugo SKS. Then again, they use power tools. The father of the house told me he had “seen the light” with respect to using power tools. :-) They’re not “strict” Amish. :-)
