If the government was going to do that, then they should just take over Mexico.

Agree with you that the fence should be built, but while many others have had their properties taken from them by eminent domain, wouldn't you fight to protect your property from being snatched by the government? The article's author could have the motive of using this to discredit the viability of a border fence, but as for Tamaz, the response is extremely natural and to be expected. So, basically, blame the author-with-an-agenda, not the property owner who is about to lose land.

I see this a little differently than you evidently. Let me explain.

People frequently place fences on their property. This doesn’t mean they loose their property. This is going to be an exotic fence to be sure, but these people won’t be losing their property. A right of way will be lost. That’s both regretable and unavoidable. They’ll still own the lion’s share of their property.

I grant you it may make it quite difficult to utilize all their property as they have. And I’m with you wanting that minimized as much as possible. Some remedy should be devised in instances like this.

Perhaps an exotic gate could be installed, that would still keep the border enforced. If it was installed between land owners with the same problem, the costs could be reduced.

Interstate highways have caused citizens the same problems over the years. Many a farm was cut in half. Many a farmer had to travel miles to get to the other side of their property. And I don’t blame anyone for being quite angry about this.

It’s still something that must be done. As much as I identify with the land owner, there is a much larger picture here. Do we simply surrender the nation, or do we take steps to put an end to what it taking place.

IMO, we have to take the steps to get our nation’s borders under control.

I think we’re much closer than my response may have implied. I understand where you are coming from, and I do have sympathy for the land owners here. That we have to do this angers me.

We could have closed that border without the fences, but our government refused to do so.

It’s just one more sign of a non-responsive government inclined to force it’s agenda off on the American public.

Seems to me they can build the fence/wall/death zone NORTH of her property and just leave her to the tender mercies of her friends in Mexico.

Wouldn't bother me a bit.

But if she wants to have the protections of the USA she's gotta' go along with the program ~ the 5th Amendment is one element of many.

I don’t know how this works, but for years we were told there is an existing easement on all border property owned by the government. It almost sounds like they’re going further into properties for some reason. Most of the residents, (did it say 90%?) want this fence. Their property is destroyed daily. Some who don’t just want free access for their illegal alien relatives, business interests, drug and human smuggling, etc.

I’m not familiar with landowners along the border in TX, but I know some in CA, and I know for a FACT that some of my friend’s neighbors make a good living by not noticing what’s crossing their land.

And I didn’t bring up the name/ethnicity-——YOU did.

Agree with you that it (building the border fence) must be done.

To bad they won't supplement the fence with Claymores facing the border.
