Iranian Protesters Demand Release of Students
By VOA News
09 December 2007
Iranian state media say students have staged a demonstration at Tehran University, damaging the main gate.
The state-run IRNA news agency says the protesters Sunday chanted slogans against President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and carried banners calling for the release of three fellow students.
The incident comes a day after intelligence agents arrested several people at Tehran University for allegedly planning an illegal demonstration.
State media quote Iran's Intelligence Ministry as saying Saturday that those arrested had entered the university using fake student cards. The ministry says anti-government groups had encouraged the suspects to come to Tehran University to create unrest.
Iran's Intelligence Ministry says agents confiscated several items from the suspects, including slings and rocks.
Iranian university students have held several rallies against President Ahmadinejad in recent months, accusing him of cracking down on dissent on campuses.
Has anyone read the latest Flynn novel “Protect and Defend”?
It sounds like it might be right on.
More pictrures here....
Brave students. I hope they stay safe.
The Iranian youth, by and large, have their heads on straight. Straighter than many here in America who applauded Ahmanutjob at Columbia.
Godspeed, Iranian people.
Where were these students when their government paraded British prisoners in front of state run cameras?
These students may not like their clerics, but of we attack Iran I suspect they’ll happily line to be fitted with a government made suicide vest.
Where’s Code Pink?
bump for later
President Bush and Republican leaders should announce their solidarity with the Iranian students and tweak Nutjob’s nose.
Any outside pressure and media exposure will help the Iranians to take courage and take back their country from the 7th century mullahs.
The Iranians have seen the ‘Promised Land’ (Iraq)
And now they want the same.
The more revolts, the sooner Ahm-a-nutjob will be gone.
