Sometimes clemency is a solution. I wonder if those who got off the hook and went straight will come to Huckabees defense. I’ve visited some people in prison, and many of them are kept alive with a hope that their sentences will be reduced. It’s difficult, I hate to disqualify a man just because he believed that some people behind bars had gone through a metamorphis and changes of them doing the same thing were nihl. I tend to be lenient and give people the 2nd chance. I guess that is why they have executive priviledge, so that they can on certain recommendations over ride the sentence of the court.
Are you some kind of bleeding heart liberal... like Huckabee?
Well, let us get into it and investigate.
Let us see with the recidivism rate was for the folks he set free. That would be an excellent study. I would not be afraid of its ultimate results, either way--although I have my own conjecture.
The innocent people they raped and murdered didn’t get a chance to change.
I am the governor and I want you to be free. I can arrange that, if you promise not to rape any more cheerleaders. Will you try to be a good doo-be? Please think about a life without rape and murder, OK? Would that be alright with you?
Your Pal and Ticket to Missouri,
What does that matter? At least several of his early releases/clemency/commutation/etc. cases DID repeat offend - with the most notorious of the cases Huckabee had a hand in - Dumond, not only re-offending, but then murdering in the state Huckabee brokered the release too.
Sure, we can save resources and dump juries, since their decision is wrong. Does anyone think that the intent of the executive pardon system is to willy-nilly decide which convicts have a minister friend and which do not?
