OSLO, Norway (AP) -- Al Gore received his Nobel Peace Prize on Monday and urged the United States and China to make the boldest moves on climate change or "stand accountable before history for their failure to act."
In accepting the prize he shared with the U.N. climate panel, the former vice president said humanity risks sliding down a path of "mutually assured destruction."

It just wouldn't be a Monday without a pronouncement from the Goreacle.

Since I can positive global warming is a real and a real (but slow) problem. I despise Al Gore probably even more than those who think GW is not real.
What Gore has done is to short circuit a bi-partisan concern and make into a political football.
Ronald Reagan had the right approach when he recognized the seas were rising. Study - don’t blame the Democrats and see if there is anything we can do with stupid things like collapsing the economy off the table.

To: wbill
He played on our fears.
Just as he did when he and his wife “burned” records and threw people under the bus with their government hearings into the obscenity of youth music in the 1980s. It put Gore on the national stage and gave him a shot at the 1988 Presidential nomination, which in turn got him the VP nod in 1992 and again in 1996.
This man seeks power his daddy promised him. He preaches fire and brimstone to get it.

The question isn’t whether “Global Warming” is real.
Previously the same crowd warned of “Global Cooling”.
Now they play it safe and call it “Global Climate Change” covering all fluctuations up or down.
Next are the issues of:
(A) whether Man is responsible or a significant factor in the climate change that has already happened
(B) whether Man is capable of significantly altering the climate (e.g. we aren’t to blame but need to change it anyway to compensate for naturally occuring fluctuations)
(C) whether the offered solutions (mercury laden fluourescent bulbs, carbon offset forests, electric cars) will actually impact the climate in a positive direction and not impact the environment in a negative manner
(D) whether all nations will be targeted with equal policies (e.g. will India and China be permitted to pollute and ramp up use of fossil fuels because they are “poor”?).

As RFK Jr. said, you are a “traitor” for denying man is to blame for global warming.

The movie out that is made by the same poeple that made March of the Penguin, is pure, blatant propaganda. At the end while the credits roll children are telling my children watching, they better have their parents drive smaller cars, recycle, do what ever it takes to save the earth. Gore's movie is shown in tons of public schools, pure propaganda. The enviornmentalists are indoctrinating the youth with a new religion, earth worship and it is very dangerous. It goes beyond saving the trees, fish and animals, they want most humans to be gone.
I live in Oregon, they are destroying our state's ability to survive with their save the trees and fish propaganda. Our county alone has to get 50 million dollars per year from the feds just to provide basic services to our population. The only thing we are exporting any more is young people.

Ronald Reagan had the right approach when he recognized the seas were rising. Ted Danson told us in 1988 that the oceans would be dead and flooding the world within 10 years. He now claims that his exagerations were mere "hyperbole" designed to awaken the masses to the issue.

I thank God every day this blithering cretin did not become Americas President!Truly, it was a near thing.
Dad and I had a discussion the other day over who would be better as pres...Gore or Hillary!. Dad's take was "Hillary"....she's completely power-mad, but at least is politically-driven enough to work with. Gore is just plain crazy - he'd have everyone living in caves while he flew around in his private jet praising everyone for being "carbon neutral".
It was a moot point, as neither Hill nor Al will get either of our votes, but I thought that it was an interesting opinion.

You know this simply reminds me that when the "environmental" movement began, the rational approach was that we as a society should start looking at ways to examine
very large projects to avoid negative
unexpected consequences. Very large projects being defined as those which spanned more than one state, or affected several large watersheds.
Please note that "unexpected" was the one key word, deliberately chosen.
The public, through its elected officials, could choose to ignore any and all consequences that could be identified. That right was never in question whatsoever.
Fast forward a few decades to a scenario where not only is the public totally ignorant, but also the elected officials, as well as the courts and we have come to this.
The "good intentions" has degenerated to where the cure is worse than the disease, and all impacts must be avoided, and human safety comfort and welfare wiped from the desireable goals of society, necessary conscious compromises are no longer allowed.
A new "Dark Age" has descended while we weren't looking.
Isn't that great?

The penguins adapted to a very odd lifestyle, going without eating for months at a time, and passing an egg from mother to father for extended periods of time.
But they survive a harsh climate. I don’t see the penguins (who are ignorant of the existance of man) trying to alter the environment and warm things up down there.

Honestly, I think that young people are getting OD'ed on the environment. AlGore, etc, haven't figured out that if you tell young people that they "MUST DO" something, then they'll immediately run out and do the opposite.
If Al had paid any attention to his kid as a teenager... (obviously not, as the kid is snorting every drug in sight and getting arrested while Al jetsets around the world) ...he'd know this.
