How Many Lives Did The Concealed-Carry Licensee Save?
Captain's Quarter's Blog ^

Posted on 12/11/2007 5:16:00 AM PST by HD1200

Jeanne Assam carried her pistol with her to church on Sunday. She did so legally, having received a license to carry a concealed weapon. If a weapon in church seems incongruous, it also became providential on this particular Sunday, as Assam stopped an assault that may have killed many more people than it did.

I didn't see the police chief congratulating her, and didn't see the PD at the presser, is that right?

Pray that innocents beyond the suspect also in the 5 different directions don’t get hit. You paint a very difficult scenario.

She had the hallway and no one behind the target it seems.

Did you see Huck on Hannity and Colmes last night? He responded to the issue of why he helped spring a rapist from jail who later committed murder. I’ve never seen so much double talk.

I, too, watched him on Hannity and Colmes last night and observed a man who was very skilled at using factually accurate statements totally to mislead. It happened while Shaun was questioning him about the DuMond parole. Huckster never directly denied that he tried to persuade the Arkansas parole board to parole DuMond. Instead, he said he didn't grant DuMond clemency, that the parole board paroled DuMond, that its members were all appointed by Clinton and Tucker, and that he, Huckabee, later removed all of them, meaning each would have a motive to lie about Huckabee's trying to influence their decision in the DuMond case. In other words, he tried to give the audience the completely false impression that he had nothing to do with the DuMond parole, without ever saying he didn't, by challenging the motives of those former members of the board who've said he did advocate granting parole to DuMond. The man is as slippery and untrustworthy as a basket full of greased cobras.

Yeah... He said he did not grant clemeny. What he did not tell you was that the reason he did not grant clemency was that it wasn’t necessary since he had convinced the parole board to grant parole.

The story is a little light on details, but too much information might be a bad thing.
I would like to know what weapon she used?

I keep waiting for the usual statement from the chief of police to the effect of “ everything worked out OK in this case, but we don’t recommend citizens doing this. After all the gunman could have taken her gun away from her and hurt someone with it.”

I am going to make a New Years resolution to carry more and practice more often.

I suggest instead of “more,” you consider: “always.”

She saved a lot of people, especially in light of the fact that his “web site” has been made known. He created and wrote a 400 word plus verbal assault on “You Christians” saying “You Christians brought this upon yourselves”, and “I don’t care if I live or die as long as I hurt you”.

You know, I think you said it right, and that’s a very good quote there... “I think there is a strong wind on the horizon about an armed society”.

That’s “Heinleinish”! :)

I can see it on other forums, an awful lot of posters asking about the best CCW gun over at www.glocktalk.com and I have yet to get to my other favorite pro-gun sites.
Its gathering momentum and on the flip side I also see some control damage taking place by the MSM. Its going to either get swept up by something else OR...

Another individual stops another potential mass slaughter elsewhere.

I think taking a special class in doubletalk is a prerequisite for being governor of Arkansas.

My wife and I just bought a new house a month ago. Our final home in our retirement. We moved out of the city limits of the college town we were living in. That also moved us out of the police jurisdiction of the town. We are now in the county’s jurisdiction. My cousin is the sheriff. He told me that even though we are only five miles out of the small town, we are FAR out when it comes to response times in the event of life and death. He knows I have a carry permit that his office issued to us both when we moved back here last summer. He told me to keep both the permit and my Glock ON MY PERSON at all times. He said if someone came calling, that I would be on my own, for perhaps as much as 15-30 minutes. THAT, is a death sentence to an unarmed home owner. At least I can even the odds a bit if someone does come calling uninvited. My cousin said, “I know you will handle the situation with no problem.” I told him, “no problemento.”

Jeanne was two years ahead of me in school and I haven't seen her for twenty years. My impression of her was that she was the happy girl-next-door who was deeply committed to her faith. Her confidence and actions saved many lives and reminds me "I can do all things through CHRIST who strengthens me." - Philippians 4:13

I heard on Fox news yesterday that he had a backpack with about 1,000 rounds. How heavy is that?

Yeah, a gun can save lives. The landscape in Texas as well as other states is littered with the bodies of burglars who thought robbing in the homes of eighty-years-old women would be a easy to do.

Don’t mess with Texas!!
