THE WOMAN WHO STOPPED THE KILLING (Colorado Gunman)
NY Post ^ | December 10, 2007

Posted on 12/11/2007 5:35:12 AM PST by Sopater

Col. Jeanne Assam said her hands were steady as she aimed her gun at a young man firing a high-powered rifle in the crowded foyer of the New Life Church.

And she prayed for divine guidance.

I was given the assignment to end this before it got too much worse, the volunteer security guard said yesterday, a day after police say the same man killed four people at the church and a missionary training school in a nearby city.

I just said, Holy Spirit, be with me, Assam said. My hands werent even shaking.

Virtually ever office building and plant in Minnesota features a prominent “No Guns” sign.

Was the PD at the presser, or are they ignoring it?

""Tactical officers with the El Paso County Sheriff's department take up positions behind vehicles around the perimeter of the New Life Church in Colorado Springs."

Wonder if she used to work in Minneapolis as a police officer. The training shows.

There are a lot more of them than the liberals think. But don’t let the news out, they are too busy blaming “the man” for their problems. Idiots don’t know who raised “the man”.

There is a reson why you never hear of policeman taking out these rampaging shooters. People need to understand that in a situation like this the police can not protect you - they only show up after the fact to collect evidence and prepare the bodies for removal.

It’s still the truth and we are going to kick the femi-nazis' and sicko bigots butts. We have had enough.

[Can’t report that an AVERAGE LAW-ABIDING CITIZEN accomplished what she did, now can we?]

Were she in Phoenix, the “New Times” news?paper? would publish her name, address and a map to her house for those who believe she is a threat to society.

I think we’re really seeing that even if they show up all they’re going to do is establish a perimeter and wait for the situation to resolve itself. It’s not their fault. I don’t blame them for not charging in when it would be tactically stupid. I blame those that establish these ‘no gun zones.’

Well that’s bad news. May as well post a sign to “Welcome Terrorists with Guns”. Change is needed and fast.

She sure didn’t train under the Columbine cop shop!

“Did you catch the statement about the police saying he might have shot himself?”

Okay, lets take the Police’s statement about how he might have actually shot himself. Let’s assume its true (which I don’t believe for a minute). What is it that caused him to commit suicide? If this woman was not charging him and firing, would he have commited suicide or kept going on killing many others? I think we all know the answer to these questions. With that in mind, even if he did commit suicide, she still saved a lot of lives.

I have no doubt he would have eventually killed himself. However, it would have been when he was running out of ammo and I doubt that any police officers who got on the scene while he was still killing people would have went inside. We have historical information to back this up. Remember Columbine? The Police stayed outside and did not try to enter the building until after all the shooting stopped. The reason is that the police are not there to stop crimes necessarily as to clean up and solve it after the crime has been commited. We the people have to stop these mass killings.

“Yeah, Murray thought this church would be a gun-free zone.”

Didn’t do his research too well, then. From what I’ve been reading, mega churches ALL have security.

Fact it is was a CITIZEN on site that stopped a massacre.

The cops can do all they can, but as we have seen, they can’t protect us from these types of situations - dozens will be killed before they even get there, regardless of how aggressively they prosecute the situation.

The older I get the more I think that liberals/secularists project on to the state the attributes of God.

They expect the state to be omniscient—the state knows every thing about everyone.

They expect the state to be omnipresent—the state is everywhere, and able to meet every need.

They expect the state to be omnipotent—the state is able to protect in every situation.

You see this when people are told to wait for the authorities to arrive to remedy any dangerous situation. This mindset stunts initiative and eradicates the whole idea of self-preservation or self-protection.

Miss Assam is testimony to everything polar opposite to the liberal mindset. And far fewer people died because of her actions.

It’s the collectivist mindset. Everybody is supposed to be a specialist. If there’s a shooter everybody is supposed to wait until the specialist in shooters shows up. It negates the idea of the well rounded individual, in which one can teach a class AND put down a shooter. Or cut the head off a snake for that matter.

One would suspect they have to have security. All that cash, what with multiple passings of the plate, in a room with several thousand people.
