A man found dead on the South Side Sunday morning was fatally shot by a U.S. Border Patrol agent after he and three other armed intruders burst into the agent's house, an official said Monday. Christian Gomez, 20, and Mark A. Escobar Jr., 19, along with two other intruders burst into the home of an off-duty Border Patrol agent and his family about 4:50 a.m. Sunday, according to police.

Drug cartels trying to murder U.S. Border patrol agents? Johnny Sutton (spit) will probably charge the agent.
To: dynachrome
Arrest this agent. Off duty, shooting a narco-thug.. Throw the book at him, Johnny.

When the fire was extinguished, police found bullet holes in the vehicle. Shooting at suspects that were running away? Uh oh, Sutton won't like the border agent firing at fleeing burglars and armed home invaders, especially if they're here illegally.

It says he had a take home vehicle. That means that anyone would know a border patrol agent lived in that house. It strains credulity to think this wasn’t another deliberate attack on an agent.
Four armed men bursting into the house while everyone was still probably in bed. It’s a miracle that the good guy won out, IMHO. Skill, yes, but good luck or a little help from God as well.

all anyone would have to do is follow him home or take down plate numbers at the border patrol parking lot and run them to get home addresses. this is a new scary chapter in the border war.

It is certainly possible that they targeted him because he was a BP agent, and they may have intended to kill his entire family.

Four against one.
They come up against some resistance and they run like rabbits.
Big bad nasty drug cartel.
If I was their boss man they would regret not staying and fighting (for a little while).

It is certainly possible that they targeted him because he was a BP agent, and they may have intended to kill his entire family. That would be a typical M.O. for a Mexican drug gang. We have all seen the recent articles about gang shootings of Mexican reporters for daring to write stories about them.
Apart from the terrible injustice to the agents themselves, it's another reason why the Ramos/Campeon prosecution was a huge mistake. Why should the drug gangs fear American law enforcement when the President himself appears to be on their side?

I agree with most here. If our govt couldn’t even defend Compean and Ramos, I’m afraid they’ll hang out this BP agent out to dry.
I also have a bad feeling the illegals are targeting our BP agents as well. Still...magnificent shooting by the BP agent!
To: weegee; All
gee, I wonder if the “intruders’ could be illegal scumsucking pieces of ——?

That is something that keeps this whole controversy about the border in the spotlight. Why should the drug gangs fear law enforcement when the perception is that our Government will bend over backwards to put our own agents in jail for doing their job? If necessary, our own Government will let a drug dealer commit perjury to convict an agent.

They call them intruders and not home invaders. Actually they were "visitors." Intruders is too harsh. Or in Rodney King-speak, they were just "pedestrians" who were lost.

Sutton will say the 4 poor unarmed men were only here to get money for their sick mothers to have surgery when a rouge BP Agent, who bragged about killing a Mexican, used his gun during the commission of a crime.
If the guy wasn’t dead, Sutton would give him a free pass across the border to earn even more money for dear old mom.

when a rouge BP Agent, who bragged about killing Er, ordinarily, I wouldn't interpose a spelling correction at this point. However, the substitution of "rouge" for "rogue" is so French that I feel I must mention it.

There was a hit on a drug dog a few years ago when I was visiting my father out in NE Missouri. Someone set up a supposed meeting with the officer, and a sniper shot the dog when they arrived for the meeting.
