COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa -- Huckabee announced this morning the endorsement of Jim Gilchrist, the founder of the anti-illegal immigration and border security group the Minutemen. More to come.
Huckabee also responded on Romney's ad, outlining differences on immigration. I'm somewhat flattered as I seem to be the recipient of the first negative attack ad in the Republican Primary," Huckabee said. "That's usually a sign of desperation on the part of an opponent who feels that his only way of winning is to attack and to destroy."

It's all about power, just like Brownback endorsing Giuliani.
Gilchrist just sold his soul.

Huck’s got too much baggage. We already had a social liberal governor from Arkansas as President.
To: pissant
I don’t trust Gilchrist anyway. I would be far more impressed if the endorsement came from Simcox.

Yep. A lot of two-bit players see Huckabee’s surge and are trying to capitalize on it, thinking he’s going to be the nominee. It’s all about political calculations and power plays, nothing else.

Well that’s certainly reasonable. After all, its not about what the man says he stands for, its about what happened over a decade ago! I’m with you, I refuse to listen to anything that happened after 1990. The present is overrated.

In my opinion, there are only four Republican Presidential candidates that have a snowballs chance in hell of winning: Giuliani, Romney, Thompson and Huckabee.
With respect to Americas Mayor, he is a good man, but Rudy ran the Nations largest sanctuary city. I had a lot of hope for Thompson, but after his people banned Minutemen from attending a Thompson 4 President rally, it was clear he didnt want our support. Mitt Romneys record on illegal immigration and the Second Amendment is terrible. That only leaves Mike Huckabee; if you research the attacks against Huckabee, you will find that most of them come from the Club for Growth. Ill let you make your own determination as to why.
Americans often say they wish the Republican Party would find another Ronald Reagan. If they really wanted another Reagan, Duncan Hunter would lead in the polls by at least double digits. Unfortunately, Mr. Hunter hasnt been able to gain the support he needs to win. With the Iowa Caucus less than two months away, the hour is getting late.
Jim Gilchrist had no plans to endorse anyone until Mike Huckabee contacted him with an in depth plan to close the border, punish employers that hire illegal labor and deport criminal aliens. Jim spent many hours speaking and corresponding with Mike Huckabee and his staff. If Jim Gilchrist stands behind Mike Huckabee, I stand behind Mike Huckabee.
To: f150sound
No Huckleberries and No Rudys!
No National Minuteman Group has endorsed Mike Huckabee. One individual Minuteman has personally endorsed him. For the sake of clarity, it is important to note that the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps (MCDC), the nation's largest Minuteman organization, is a 501(C)4 non-profit organization and cannot and does not endorse any candidate for public office. MCDC is not associated with Mr. Jim Gilchrist, who today endorsed Mike Huckabee for president.

Check this out, just now, on a LIBERAL ONLINE DISCUSSION BLOG, from
Atlantic Monthly. I would say this is rather typical of what I am seeing internally in the Lib Dem camp regarding Huck. It is not good. Wake up GOP / Grassroots voters. Don't screw 2008 up!!
"I'm praying to Mike Huckabee's god that he gets the nomination. Could you see that empty suit trying to stand up to any of the big three Dems in a debate? Unfortunately this is true. He is an empty suit as he's probably still wearing the ones purchased when he weighed in at 300 pounds.
He'll tell everyone that he is a moderate (stands for nothing) or, worse yet, that he'll carry on the Bush tradition of Compassionate Conservatism.

He has a benefactor, the Millionaire Jennings Osborne of Little Rock, who has given Huckabee tens of thousands of dollars worth of gifts.
He bought the Gov. new suits all the time, before and after. Well over $20,000 worth of new suits.
Mike doesn't have a problem accepting gifts.
"A former top Huckabee staffer said Huckabee never saw anything wrong with Osborne's gifts."
"It was because of his background as a preacher," said the staffer, who asked to remain anonymous. "They typically get gifts. In his own mind he was righteous, so the appearance didn't matter."
LOL!!!
