I Was on the Waterboard
Self | 12/11/2007 | Mariner

Posted on 12/11/2007 8:59:40 PM PST by Mariner

I am an honorably discharged US Military member that was subject to the Waterboard in SERE school circa 1979-1980.

I'm certain there are other ex military member that would like to join me in testifying to both the US Congress and the US Media that this procedure, while effective, is not torture.

If the majority of the American people knew that this was an act that US service members are subject to, it would disappear off the front pages of every newspaper and news show in the country.

Sign up. State you were waterboarded. Jim Robinson can collect our logins and provide our info to a brave Congress Person or member of the administration.

Let's send the dims and the media running and looking stupid while doing so.

Waterboarding has only been used on three terrorists, and has not been used since 2003.

The way the MSM talks you would think it's used all day, every day, all over the place all the time.

Well, I agree, Dumb_Ox... Your FR ID Name says it all!

Except, I guess, for the insult... to oxen everywhere.

No more need be said... nor your posts replied to in the future.

Thanks for that link - - interesting.
Of course, it was no surprise to see Sullivan lying in the very first sentence of the caption, but then that’s what is expected from him these days. Maybe the HIV is eating his brain.

SERE, '68, North Island and Warner Springs.

Out of the 75 in my class about 5 were waterboarded while in the POW phase. They weren't volunteers but random choices. It was a lesson to all of us.

I wasn't one but saw that the victims didn't resist long.

The gentleman who delivered my new television this evening also remarked that he had been waterboarded as part of survival training while in the Navy. (Fox news was on in the background, and they were discussing this, hence his comment.) He said it scared the crap out of him, but didn’t harm him in any other way...

Dumb Ox, those three terrorists were lucky their private parts weren’t eliminated prior to being sent to meet their 72 virgins. Waterboarding is torture? Give me a break - no harm, no foul is how I see it.

I did it in reverse. I failed to let go of the rope after I fell. Sucked up a couple of gallons that way.

Dumb_Ox:

When nations are at war, the people in the military must do everything possible to perform their duty in defending their homes and country.

This human aspect of war is recognized by every member of the military, and soldiers from the other side, are treated with the respect that they have earned.

There is a very important reason why soldiers must be in uniform!

I think this is all going to backfire on the liberal establishment. Americans want to feel their Intel Agencies are doing the right things to keep this nation safe.
If a bunch of jihadist are caught in the US ready to perform some terrible attack on this country, then we want to know that our people have the ability to quickly extract info to prevent the attack.
If our agencies do not have the tools to within some element of humanity quickly get info from some asshole ready to blow up an American city etc., then there is something really wrong with our system.
And it continues to fizz me off that those that should come out with some blunt statements, what the deal really entails are so shy in stating the facts.
These so called do gooders should be kicked in the head and perhaps bring some low level of senses to their brains.
Their idiots at best.

May I suggest that there is a qualitative difference between being subjected to waterboarding under controlled conditions where you are assured of the professional conduct of your fellow soldiers, and being subjected to waterboarding as a captured enemy combatant at the mercy of angry, determined interrogators?

What's your point?

Neither is torture.

"He said it scared the crap out of him, but didn’t harm him in any other way..."

Yes, it's certainly terrifying.
