Rather thought he could top Walter Cronkite. It blew up in his face. Har!

If we, in the time of Cronkite, as we were settling for hearing, "...and that's the way it is...! could have had similarly in-depth, factual information about the politically-biased contrivances of the media and Uncle Wally, what a comparatively wonderful world we might be enjoying today!

"You couldn’t have a starker contrast between the multiple layers of check and balances [at 60 Minutes] and a guy sitting in his living room in his pajamas writing.”

Right. Yes, the contrast would be in units of hubris and undeserved, self-congratulatory, 6- and 7-figure salaries.

I never had so much fun in my life as when this story broke.

I was merciless with Rather, sending comic emails to CBS, busting their chops, telling them I had all kinds of new memos for them.

I laughed my a$$ off for a week.
