Sorry, but this is politicizing the girl's death.

I recall nary a post on FreeRepublic claiming that Juanita Broddrick and Kathleen Willey were "politicizing" the alleged assaults on them by Bill Clinton.

Yes, and she wasn't home the last six or seven Christmas' either, but no one said anything until now. Why is that?

Actually, a lot of people were saying this all along, but nobody was paying any attention. Up until this year--in fact up until the past few weeks--no one in the wider public gave much thought at all to Mike Huckabee.

(Video of Mom of Girl killed by Man Huckabee had Pardoned)

Talk about false and misleading headlines. Someone has a future at CBS with that kind of creative writing.

(Of course, as we all know, Huck didn't pardon Dumond. Dumond was paroled.)

Tne Drive By Media is pushing him along with the DNC. They see him as easy road kill in the general Election and that he has a “Glass Jaw”!

Pardoned/Paroled: Either way she is still dead.

Consider the following scenario:

A presidential candidate wishes to restore the financial rights of terrorist supporting organizations. He says we should all let the the past be the past and try to get along. Some of the widows from 911 step forward to remind the country of what happened to their loved ones. Is this politicizing the deaths?

He wrote a letter of support for that murdering scum, he may as well have pardoned him the parole board certainly took his letter into account.

Hm. Maybe because Huckabee wasn’t running for POTUS until now, a job that carries far more devastating consequences of poor judgment?

No, but he did run for re-election AFTER her daughter was murdered and after this thug was paroled. So why didn't the mom raise a stink during his re-election effort as Governor? Hmmm...

Legally, there is a big difference between pardon and parole, and conservatives should be above the democrat tricks of mis-stating the facts to make a point.

Like I said, I’m not a Huckleberry supporter. My guy is Fred. My hope is that Huckabee’s support is a media creation. I don’t see a huge amount of support for him on the Freerepublic. I would think that the FR would be pretty representative of the conservative vote, wouldn’t it? If that’s the case, then Fred should be winning hands-down. I’m suspicious. As far as the pardon vs. the parole situation, I’m not defending Huckster at all. I wish he had never gotten in the race.

He was paroled by the parole board, and there is a difference in a parole and a pardon. I think we should use the correct verbage.

It was a defacto pardon. The Pardon Board repeatedly turned down his pardon requests. Mike Huckabee put the screws to the parole board and they caved.

Parole, Pardon... This girl is still dead and it is because of the actions of Mike Huckabee.

I’m not a Huckabee supporter by a long shot, but I just heard him on Laura Ingraham’s radio show, and, to be fair, he didn’t pardon the guy. He was paroled by the parole board, and there is a difference in a parole and a pardon.

You have just been bamboozled by Slick Mikey.

Huck PLANNED to give this creep clemency. When he made that known, there was a public outcry. So to accomplish his ends while remaining politically viable, he engaged in what you might call strategic buck-passing. He decided to arrange for someone else to sign the papers.

He reneged on the clemency and moved instead to get him paroled. That way it wouldn't be done under his signature. Very clever. But the fact remains that had it not been for Huck's pressure on the parole board, DuMond would have stayed in prison and two people would not have been brutally murdered.

Huck was suckered by this guy because he claimed to have found Jesus.

The Huckster probably lied on Laura Ingram and she didn’t do her homework. Scroll down to page 3 of 12. Read the paragraph that starts with In accordance.... It is the next to last paragraph on page 3. The Huckster can lie all he wants but he definitely had something to do with the parole. He could have even denied parole. He denial is stated in Arkansas law if he wants to. It was simple.

and then he wrote the killer a letter approving of the parole.

Do you have a link to the actual letter?

He’s also for big gov’t. How he’s rising in the polls is a mystery.

Because the evangelical wing of the Republican Party stops reading after that part that says "Huckabee is an ordained Southern Baptist minister."

No, this is the best I can do:

http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/12/05/huckabee.dumond/

Note the paragraph:
“I’ve never made a decision about the DuMond case other than the decision to write the letter” to DuMond, Huckabee said. “That was my decision, but I didn’t parole him, because governors don’t parole people in Arkansas.”

Or this:
http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives2/2007/12/019208.php

Although Huckabee disclaims responsibility for the decision that granted Dumond parole, there’s no dispute that this is a result he favored. In fact, Huckabee wrote a “Dear Wayne” letter to Dumond in which he stated, “My desire is that you be released from prison. I feel that parole is the best way for your reintroduction to society to take place.” And Huckabee admitted to Byron York that “I thought he would, you know, be clean. . .he had a job, he had sponsors lined up, so at the time, I did not have this apprehension that something horrible like that would happen.”
