WAUWATOSA - There are problems at a Denny’s restaurant in Wauwatosa.
TODAY’S TMJ4 has video showing people punching each other in the dining room. We're talking about the Denny’s location on North Avenue right by Highway 45. Police are called their constantly, nearly every other night according to police reports.
That's too much for some Wauwatosa leaders. One melee broke out at 2:00 a.m. Saturday as people were trying to eat at Denny’s. Punches flew. People rushed from their tables to see what was going on. Chris Gilbert was there.
“A little wrestling and then it got broken up and I was in between and kind of separating both sides,” Gilbert said.
Dartell Delarosa was in the fight. He has broken blood vessels in his eye.
TODAY’S TMJ4’s Mick Trevey: “Do you think there should be people fighting in a Denny’s restaurant?”
“No. Ithink there should be better security. There was a guard there but he didn't really do much,” Dartel Delarosa said.
People inside say they don't like eating with violent fighting nearby.
“When you go to a restaurant, you expect to go eat, calm, peace, but things happen,” Gilbert said.
This Denny’s drains Wauwatosa police resources. Officers were called to the diner 100 times in 2006 and about 150 times so far this year.
Most of those calls come in the very early hours of the morning.
Aldermen think something needs to change.
“My own particular preference is that they close their, reduce their, business hours and are closed between midnight and 5:00 a.m.,” Wauwatosa Alderman Don Birschel said.
Late Thursday afternoon, Denny’s announced changes because of the serious problems. They say the location will close from midnight until 5:00 a.m. on weekends. They're deciding whether to make that change permanent.

Many of the Denny’s here in Phoenix have become Gay hangouts. Maybe there is a connection?

When you post this weird stuff it helps to say what state. I said where in the hell is WAUWATOSA and why should I care. Thought it was some place in outer Mongolia, but then the Denny's there probably serves dog. LOL

bad area..there’s a nice mall nearby that had to change thair policy for youngsters
no one under 18 allowed in mall after 3 pm without a parental escort..they had a lot of fights at the theater in the mall on weekend nights
there is a bus stop near the mall- the young toughs take the bus from Milwaukee to the mall for some “wilding”
wow. good stuff. being a waitress there has got to be the worst job in the world. wonder what the average tip percentage is.

Big changes in my lifetime about what’s acceptable, condoned, allowed or tolerated. Unbelievable. Unacceptable.
It must be those wild and wacky Amish “youts” on a rampage again.
It’s simple..If I can’t eat somewhere without fights breaking out, I quit eating there. Others follow suit and the business closes. It doesn’t deserve to be open if it can’t control this.
I avoided Mayfair even though I liked the place. Bayshore has a parental escort policy also. These folks destroyed Northridge.
That Denny’s is the worst restaurant in Wisconsin.
Well, there was the Chinese restaurant in Bay View where the health inspector found chicken feathers all over the kitchen....
But for overall bad food, terrible service and random fisticuffs, nothing beats that Denny’s. It doesn’t help that the hotels in the area are full of drug dealers and prostitutes.
And just how do you propose that a restaurant open to the public 'control' the idiots that break out in fights? They can't profile the customers. Armed guards would be considered racist by the usual hustlers that would point to other Denny's locations that don't have armed guards.
It is not up to a legal business to control society or patrons. If the people of the city can't control themselves the police should be handling the problem. Instead the police encouraged the Denny's to close during overnight hours.
Forcing a legitimate business to close because the people are animals and the police can't keep the peace is not good for the remainder of this city, or the area for that matter.
I think they closed most of those where you could actually fear for your life while eating.
If you really want to live life on the edge in Milwaukee - deliver pizzas.
At least they didn’t find cat fur like they found in Syracuse.

Hometown pride! I grew up in the 60’s and 70’s about 1 mile NW of that location. My high school class of 1975, had 404 students of which 2 were black. I sense a demographic shift in the old ‘hood.

This is almost as bad as the notorious Waffle House over in Brainerd.
When I was living in Miami, there was a Denny’s on Flagler, frequented by elderly Cubans, that made national headlines for “locking the doors” when black folk came around. What the media didn’t tell you is that said Denny’s had a huge problem with “yoots” coming down from Overtown and harassing the folks. The old Cuban guy who managed the place saw some folk who resembled (not just in race, but in other ways) those who had been causing trouble earlier. The local media made the poor guy sound like Lester Maddoxx, which is yet another reason to hate the media.
They should switch the security from dips to bouncers. Then toss in a chain link cage, like the McY D’s playground. Then advertise. When the fight breaks out, the bouncers can toss ‘em in the cage. That way the cops only have to be called once in the AM to make a collection. In the meantime you’ll have live entertainment and the cops on the O’dark shift will quit whinin’, because they’re being woke up.
I've heard that McDonalds gives police free food as an incentive to have them hanging around the store and patrolling the parking lot. Maybe it would work for Denny's.
Actually the best late night Denny’s meal is the Superbird with a stack of fries and a chocolate shake.

As for me, my father-in-law and I pass right by a Denny's on the way to the Hangar Cafe in the Chandler airport.
The cause of the problem here is obvious. Unfortunately, we are not allowed to state the obvious, neither here on FR nor anywhere else.
Those of us who live in the real world are daily forced to confront the reality of situations like this one, yet we are forbidden to speak honestly about what is going on in this country. I don’t understand what is to be gained by refusing to acknowledge reality, but that’s the world in which we live. Perhaps someday, when things become much worse, we as a nation will finally find the courage to face this issue honestly and openly. Until then, civilized people will continue to retreat in the face of lawlessness rather than risk causing offense.
The local bar we hung out at in my old East Dallas neighborhood was run by a friend of ours — an Irishman named N_____. Now, N___ was sometimes ornery, and more or less constantly drunk (when not behind the bar), but he was full of bonhomie and his bar was a fantastic place to while away an evening. N____, however, was from the Auld Sod, and did not feel obligated to share in the Kum-Ba-Yah singalong we all grew up with. He simply did not allow black people to enter his bar, period. On occasions when a black person or persons would enter the bar, N____ would give them a long, hard look, then worldlessly retrieve a shotgun from beneath the counter and place it in front of him on the bar. A hasty retreat by the would-be customers would then follow.
That was years ago, however. Thanks to the gentrification of the neighborhood, his bar has become just another fraternity-boy watering hole, and none of the old gang go there any more. N____ sold the place, and nobody seems to know what happened to him. (He may be dead for all I know, though I hope he isn’t.) Still, whenever we talk about those old days, my friends and I often wonder what happened to old N____ to make him categorically refuse service to black people. I guess we’ll never know.

As an “older person” who’s seen much change in the world and lately not much for the better it seems, I’ve been trying to decide who or what are the most salient, important and pressing issues or dangers facing America and Western civilization.
I’ve been having a hard time trying to decide if it’s:
1.) Islamofascism/Nazism terrorism.
2) Leftism/Socialism
3.) The so called media (including Hollywood, college professors, and “celebrities”).
4.) The total lack of common sense and/or ability to think in a pragmatic and realistic manner by minds so clouded by PC BS and so called “multicultural” baloney that almost no one knows their ass from their elbows anymore.
For me, it’s a tough call. It seems like cultural, national and civilizational suicide to me. It’s depressing as hell to me.
What do you Freepers think?
This is the same town that had a near-riot recently when the K-Mart in town had a computer glitch and started approving everyone (no matter how unworthy) for a free credit line of up to $4,000.00
Someone screamed “free money!” and all heck broke loose.
Punches were thrown, there were beat-downs, pulled hair on the floor, and at least one broken nose.
One enterprising guy was in the parking lot selling credit applications from a different K-Mart so that everyone could get in on the “free money!”
