Could Clinton Lose Because of Women?

From virtually the beginning of her campaign, New York Senator Hillary Clinton has made every effort to maximize her advantages among women voters. It seems a natural constituency for the first woman to climb to the top of a presidential field. Polls throughout the campaign have showed Clinton earning the support of far more women than men, giving Democrats hope that, in a general election, she would enlarge the party's traditional gender gap and cruise to the White House with stronger backing from women than any other candidate in history.
But now, as polls show her once-strong lead in Iowa slipping, the once-inevitable Democratic nominee looks human again, vulnerable to defeat from Illinois Senator Barack Obama. If Obama pulls off the once unthinkable scenario of beating Clinton, a post-mortem analysis will show it is women, once seen as Clinton's key to a guaranteed victory, who caused her defeat.
(snip)
Women play an inordinately strong role in the Democratic primary field. Statistics provided by the Iowa Democratic Party show women made up 54% of caucus-goers in 2004, while some pollsters think the number could be closer to 60% this year.

Poetic justice!!!! Hillary has ridden her husband's coattails her entire life. She's no real women's liber, no self-made woman. She's a groupie. And other women see right through her. Oh, to see her up-ended by her own gender!

Hillary will lose because Mitt Romney will wrap her up and send her home!

Women can be vicious to one another. My teenage daughters see it all the time. They rank right below Stalin, Hitler, Pol Pot and “Vlad the Impaler” on the cruelty scale.

Please take a few moments to view this great transition of an Iowa voter. That Iowa voter is why the Iowa Caucasus are truly worthless as far as I'm concerned. She believes she is thinking person, but doesn't have a working single brain cell.

I have to confess that I live dangerously working around a lot of Lieberal women. When the topic of Hillary comes up, I mention two things:
- George Bush says she is well-qualified to be president.
- However, her abrasive and autocratic style might mean if she is elected, she would be so polarizing that it might be another generation (30 years plus) before the country ever takes a chance on another woman CIC. Hence, she would actually set back the cause of women.
You should see their faces when I make either or both of above points.

She believes she is thinking person, but doesn't have a working single brain cell. And how is this different from the average Democrat voter? You've just destroyed your own argument and shown why the Iowa Caucasus are, indeed, important.

While I, a woman, would love to see a woman be elected as president of the United States, I would never vote for Hillary Clinton.
I prefer an honest woman whose achievements are her own.
And, quite frankly, I know there are many, many women who are honest as well as competent and high achievers.
So, put one up, and she's got my vote.
I've been an Independent since 1990 so show me the ideal woman and she may get my vote.

I came to the conclusion yesterday ... that she is not going to win. She is haughty, mean, hateful, snotty, fake and way too arrogant... to win. WOMEN hate other women like that. Men are way too smart to even think of letting Hillary win. They despise her. She will not win!

There are a lot of valid points being made on this thread. Reading everyone’s opinions make me more hopeful every day that Clinton will be beat.

I think that is why Oprah is on the campaign trail, the women vote.... Hillry is destined to be the nominee and Obama needs a bit of experience ...bit of orchestrated fire and brimstone blaming the Republicans of course. He will make the personification of her being a saint giving a hand out to make all wrongs of this nation right. He can sit beside her as her right hand man.

IMHO, it comes down to likeablitiy. Hillary has never in her pitiful life been likeable. I stay in a hotel with Secret Service when Bush was campaigning in New Mexico. There were 40 some SS there and I talked to many of them in the lobby area, I asked them about the Clintons. They were very careful how they answered, but it was clear... they did not respect Hillary or Kerry in any fashion.
I had thought Hillary would win, but I am seeing that she just is not a nice person and it comes out. People want change, they don’t want more of the same. Dims will go for the first black with Obamma... GOP will have either Romney or Rudy to vote for. IMHO, the black vote will win.

Correct. Many women despise her because she allowed her husband to humiliate her publicly still stayed with him. They do see through this sham marriage, which is really just a business deal.

For every woman who sorta likes Hillary, I know one that LOATHES the woman. This whole thing that she was gonna simply walk away with the womans vote was a fantasy. As I see it, the more politically astute, and therefore more likely to vote, the less they liked Hillary. And its not just conservatives and Republicans, the left wing blogosphere is full of Hillary hatred.

I do think Obama will win. He has the mo- right now and I think instead of it being the first women, it is going to be the first black president.
I will not vote for him ( I only vote GOP) but I live in very very conservative West Texas and I have seem many Obama bumper stickers, and have been shocked, but it is all about him being fresh and new, like the focus group said yesterday, they don’t want more of the same.

This time it will be third party candidate Rue,,,er,,,Ron Paul who will usher in the Hillary coronation. The devil is working behind the scenes again, to see that it happens.
