RALEIGH - No, you're not imagining things. That really is a Ron Paul for President blimp flying over the City of Raleigh today.
Organizers for the blimp took off this morning at 8am at the Airship Management Hangar in Elizabeth City, North Carolina and they are on their way to Chester, South Carolina where they will make their first stop.
This afternoon, the blimp will be flying over north Raleigh and will most likely be visible from Interstate 540 at some point, said Bryce Henderson, a media coordinator for the effort.
Organizers say the current schedule has it passing over Raleigh at 1 pm, Greensboro at 3pm, Charlotte at 5pm and landing in Chester, SC around 6pm. The blimp will spend the night in Chester and then head to Columbia, South Carolina in the morning.
Organizers say that the public can follow along on the inaugural trip as the blimps coordinates are relayed to www.ronpaulblimp.com via GPS and a live camera feed will also be inside the blimps cabin, broadcasting events in real time to www.justin.tv.
Organizers cautioned that the are assuming weather conditions are agreeable.
"Simply to take the blimp out of the hanger requires the wind speed to be under 15 knots," said orgnizers in a statement to the media.
Supporter for Ron Paul, who is running for President on the Republican ballot, raised the close to $300,000 necessary to place the advertisement on the blimp. Ron Paul has been in the news quite a bit lately as a candidate who has gained much momentum via the Internet. His supporters recently made over $4 million in campaign donations in one day at his website.
Trevor Lyman, who was one of the key figures behind the massive Ron Paul fundraising effort, also helped organize the blimp trip and will be on board.

I used to be a Thompson supporter, but after the poor showing at the debate, I've had enough of him. It now seems obvious to me that the only one I will be able to stomach voting for is Ron Paul. I resisted for a long time because some of his supporters struck me as, well, kind of nuts. They may or may not be. But it's not his supporters I'm voting for. If you just look at the candidates' records and what they are saying, Ron Paul is the only one who seems to be in touch with what's wrong with our country and what needs to be done to make America once again the "shining city on the hill".

Just when you think politics can't get any cheaper or trashier, this happens.
Are these campaigns being run by former used car salesmen?

Ron Paul is the only one who seems to be in touch with what's wrong with our countryExactly. America has not been stabbing its fighting forces in the back nearly enough. Ron Paul is finally the right traitor for the job.

To claim to once be for Thompson and for what he stands and now to be for Ron Paul is preposterous. The most important issue in this campaign is defending this nation from the Islamofascists. Thompson and the other candidates get that. Ron Paul doesn’t get it. He will never be the commander of chief of this nation.

This "I was for Fred but now I'm for ..." is becoming a theme here lately. It's always from someone with no post history supporting Fred Thompson.
If these ploys are supposed to make us all throw up our hands and run from Fred [who had a very good showing in the debate, I might add] they don't work and they are not believed. Just honestly support your candidate of choice and Fred supporters will do the same.

Gosh, I look at Ron Paul’s actual introduced legislation in congress, I read his floor speeches.. What exactly are you thinking he’s going to do that he hasn’t already tried to do in Congress?
Because in Congress, he’s voted for deficit spending, he’s voted for increased size of government, he’s voted for more federal intervention into the rights of states. Just like this blimp that was supposed to be up in the air nine hours ago, he’s going no where fast.

Very important, indeed, but isn’t having an America safe for your progeny more important? L. Ron Paul doesn’t get that we’re fighting for survival against a raging tide of islamo-nuts.
And I don’t buy your “I used to be for Fred” schtick, either.

"The most important issue in this campaign is defending this nation from the Islamofascists."I see you have swallowed the line that is handed to you, hook, line, and sinker.
IMO, the upcoming election is much broader than that one issue.
Consider for a moment the original source of Islamofacist terrorism, and who we are calling our "friends".
They are one and the same: Russia, Iran, Syria, China, Korea, etc. etc.
We fight them with one hand, and feed them with the other.

I suppose this is the logical extension of those pointless signs Paul supporters put on freeway overpasses. Granted, everybody uses those signs once election day gets closer, and I never have understood what they were supposed to accomplish, but the Paul people seem to be employing them earliest and most enthusiastically.

I’ve never voted for a democrat in my life. My first vote cast was for Bush 1 in 1988. I was president of the College Republicans at ODU from 1992-1993, I served on the Republican Party of Portsmouth from ‘94 until ‘96...I could go on but you get the picture. I’m not a liar. I don't know but I'm pretty sure he knows they're over here because we're over there. Hopefully, he'll get us out of the Middle East and let them go back to fighting each other, something they've been doing since 632.
The only thing in the ME worth an American sprained ankle is oil and, since they've nothing else to export, they'll continue to sell us all we can take unless we get involved in their conflicts and create an enemy of one side or the other.

Care to explain your rah-rah postings about Paul’s fundraising back on November 11, in which you state that you made a donation yourself? Doesn’t sound like the actions of someone who was supposedly supporting Fred back then to me.
To: this is my name not yours
No, YOU are rude to do the Democrat “I used to be for” crap.
Don’t insult our intelligence and why don’t you just be intellectually honest?
I HAVE voted for a Democrat. I was 18, and didn’t KNOW any better, Jimmy Carter. A couple of years after that, I was a part of a little “exercise” called “Desert One” (there were other names for it), but I learned during that what politics was, and who Carter was.
I changed my politics. And I admit it. Don’t insult my intelligence by saying you used to be for Thompson and come out for Ron Paul.
IF the Republican Party “left you behind” and you’re a “Party of One” as you claim, then you would still be a real Republican, a Conservative, and someone who understands what small government means - instead you try these shenanigans with a bunch of folks that can see right through the crap.
At least admit HONESTLY that you’re for Ron Paul (or WHOMEVER you’re for) instead of trying to denigrate another one in the same breath. That’s intellectually dishonest, as well as rude.
And I admit I’m an A-hole when I catch liars, I don’t give them a break. You’re NOT getting one either.
