The only topic that Huckabee gets right is his position on the 2nd amendment.Well his commercial where Chuck Norris endorsed him he only spoke of our "right to hunt". what the hell is that?

Well his commercial where Chuck Norris endorsed him he only spoke of our "right to hunt". what the hell is that?I suppose that means he doesn't even have his head screwed on straight with respect to the 2nd amendment. I don't wait commercial broadcast TV, so I would never have seen the ad.

I think I saw it on FR from a link to YouTube. Maybe a search of FR will pull it up with the link.

You should have listened to the Laura Ingraham show yesterday morning for her interview with Huckabee. She is a lawyer and worked for the Justice Dept. She nailed Huckabee on illegal aliens, the taxes to pay for them, and leniency for criminal scumbags. She did not allow him to BS, bob and weave, or change the subject. Laura wanted only direct answers from Huckabee. She got none.

Were about to find out how many Jesus iz my logic types we have in the GOP.I fear you're right. I thought that Evangelical Conservative voters at least understood that the non-social-issues part of the platform was important even though their own focus was the social issues. It seems that for a portion of them, they just gravitate to the guy that says Jesus most.

This is the unwelcome result of Rove’s aggressive efforts to recruit dormant Evangelicals on behalf of GWB. There was always the risk that grassroots structure could be “hijacked” by someone who was an evangelical first and a conservative second instead of the other way around. That’s what is happening with Huckabee. I think we have to confront the fact that alot of values voters don’t mind big government as long as it comes with a dose of Jesus juice.

I thought that Evangelical Conservative voters at least understood that the non-social-issues part of the platform was important even though their own focus was the social issues. Many here, myself included, warned that the Christian Right was not being served by the popular selection here on this forum. It is not that the Christians have gone awry, it is that they were offered nothing else (except Romney).
That's why Conservatives must vote according to PRINCIPLE. Principled candidate fulfill the desired attributes of all the Conservative factions, not just the faction one may personally lean toward. Otherwise the coalition formed by Reagan shatters into it's individual pieces and the election is lost (as is currently ocurring).
It is also why "elect-ability" and "pragmatism" always fail to deliver.

Huckabee certainly isn’t a principled candidate, according to your definition.

Huckabee certainly isnt a principled candidate, according to your definition. I know that. I do not want Huck, believe me. But Christians vote Christian first. If it doesn't say "Christian" on the candidate's sleeve, they pay him no mind at all. Where do you suspect they would go? Will they find out different? I sure hope so... but where will they go then? Hmm?
That's what I mean... the only candidates worthy of a Conservative vote are those which fulfill all of the factional demands- Including those of the Christians... Only two qualify, Hunter and Tancredo.
All the rest are dross, as they leave at least one faction unfulfilled.

It would make a nice match and powerful lineup. Thompson might shore up Romney’s conservative credentials and provide valuable Congress experience.

Let’s see - he’s from Arkansas - who else was from there recently that we couldn’t stand....
Then there is his lack of foreign policy - just “let’s make nice.” Shades of Jimmy Carter!
Finally, I’ve got a theology degree -well, not really?
Why would I want to vote for this idiot?
He is no where NEAR my idea of a leader. I’ll take Fred over Romney or Rudi - but they both seem preferable as leaders to this guy.

I did hear some of Laura Ingraham's interview with Huckabee. I heard more of her random comments through the balance of the show. I agree that she didn't give him room to spew vacuous rhetoric. Huckabee and Giuliani have demonstrated poor judgment in handling their power in an executive position. Both are bad on the illegal alien issue. Both have been involved in shady practices involving lots of taxpayer funds. Giuliani is a documented gun-grabber. Huckabee is a bleeding heart liberal when it comes to criminal scumbags. Neither are on my short list of candidates.
