So we often on FR hear people's #1 choice, but don't get to see them in comparison to the other candidates running. How would you rank the following Republican candidates in preference from most want to see win to least (Giuliani, Huckabee, Hunter, Keyes, McCain, Paul, Romney, Tancredo, Thompson)?
1. Romney - Total package in electability (speaking, looks, money, etc). I like his stances on the issues and that he lives family values, doesn't just preach them. I also admire that he has ran business and done so impressively.
2. Huckabee - Impressed with his speaking ability. I like his stances on social issues. I think he would have a real shot at unifying the party. Decent to good electability depending on if his organization could catch up to his charm.
3. McCain - He has good electability, and I admire him as a war hero. I like most of his stances on issues. I just dread those occasional weird stances he pulls every now and then.
4. Thompson - A good guy, plain spoken and direct. I respect that. I like his stances on many issues. We just can't win a national election with Fred. He lacks crossover appeal.
5. Giuliani - Kind of the anti-Thompson. I don't care for his stances on many issues, but he has good electability. I do respect his resolve to fight the war on terror and crime at home though.
6. Hunter - He has some good stances on immigration and taxes. He has very little hope as far as electability goes however.
7. Tancredo - Tancredo is a good speaker, and has done more to bring the illegal immigration issue to the forefront than anyone else. However, he is a one trick pony and has no electability.
8. Paul - I wouldn't vote for him. He wants to surrender in Iraq, and he is disloyal to many Republican beliefs. He also has no real electability. However, on a few issues he does take the correct stance.
9. Keyes - Only other Republican candidate I wouldn't vote for. Keyes would kill the Republican party if he were nominated. He performed so horribly at the last debate, and is patently unqualified to hold the office. No electability, no coherence, no charisma - the worst Republican candidate I've ever seen. We would lose Utah if he were the nominee. Utah.
(Rim shot)
1. Fred
2. Mitt
3. Johny MAC
4. Hunter
5. Tancredo
6. Guliani
7. Paul
8. Keyes
9. Huck-a-doodle-do
1. Duncan Hunter - Most conservative candidate
2. Mitt Romney - Executive experience is bar none
3. McCain - Military hero
4. Huck - Pro-life!!!
5. Thompson - Federalism
6. Guiliani - 9/11 was incredible
7. Tancredo - Anti-Immagration
8. Paul - Fiscal guy
9. Keyes - Crazy uncle in the attic...can’t support him under any circumstances after seeing him for the first time ever on the last debate.
1. Fred
2. Hunter
3. Mitt
4. Keyes
5. Tancredo
6. Guliani
7. Paul
8. Jim Baker (I mean the Huckster)
I really like Thompson but he came in too late, he may still have a chance, a very long one.
Tancredo is my Representative and has brought the illegal immigration to the forefront, I’d like him to run for Senator and get rid of these socialists who are taking over Colorado.
Romney has all the right stuff and seems to be right guy for knocking Clinton off.
The rest, especially Huckabee, aren’t what they portend, he is a liberal underneath all the holy posturing. He is simply another pol from Arkansas. That’s how I look at it right now, I liked the rimshot, ;)
Hunter
Fred
Tancredo
McCain
Huckabee
Giuliani
Paul
Keyes
I don’t vote for the best candidate based upon his MSM driven “electability” factor. I vote on the man and on his politics, period.
2. Thompson - Might be OK --once we extract him from McCain's asshole.
3 - 8 Hunter, Tancredo, Romney, Giuliani, Huckleberry, McCain - Nah.
1. Fred “Mr. President” Thompson
2. Duncan Hunter
3. Mitt Romney
Will NOT vote for any other nominee.
1. Hunter
2. Huckabee
3. Thompson
4. Romney
5. Tancredo
6. Giuliani
7. Keyes
8. Paul
9. McCain
Romney
Thompson
Giuliani
Huckabee
The rest are just an honorable mention.
Read tagline.
0) Hunter 0) Romney, 0) Paul, 0) McCain, 0) Giuliani, 0) Keyes, 0) Huckabee, 0) Tancredo, 0) Thompson
(In no particular order)
Mark
You have the first list that I can agree with, especially the huckster. I woulld put Rudy above Keyes, tho.
ditto !
Paul is not ‘iffy’ on Iraq, he is wacky. We are there to fight AQ and the jihadis rather than fighting them here.
2. Huckabee - He is a liar and deceiver, loves open borders and Amnesty, misuses and abuses religion for personal gain, wants to raise taxes because he believes in “two America’s” just like edweirds, buys into globull warming being our fault, is starting to become anti-WOT and is attacking Bush on foreign policy... gomer knows nothing about foreign policy... but he does know about lying about a Theological Masters Degree that he DOES NOT have! He is a real dukakabee... a Liberal. I will NEVER vote for him.
3. McCain - He’s nuts and unhinged... does not understand the Constitution... was severely damaged by torture... wants to put al qaeda up in a Holiday Inn Express... will not allow waterboarding (he should be waterboarded for taking that stance)... was against the Bush Tax Cuts... authored the unConstitutional CFR garbage... is corrupt (keating five) and loves glo-bull warming. He is Conservative... a crazy Conservative with Liberal leanings and massive misunderstanding of our Constitution... and mitt, rootie and huckster are so abhorrent to me that I would... if having to decide... I would vote for McCain before I would ever vote for either of the three Liberals the msm is pushing. That is just how bad rootieromneyhuck truly are.
4. Thompson - He is the man to save our Nation... he is a LEADER... CONSERVATIVE... FEDERALIST... PATRIOT... CONSTITUTIONALIST... CONSTRUCTIONIST... comfortable in his own skin and a mind as sharp as a razor. He kisses no a$$ and asked not that his be likewise adorned. He is as close as America has today when it comes to a “Reagan Republican”. He is the REAL DEAL. I would crawl over broken glass during Hurricane Katrina to vote for Fred... and yes... I went through Katrina.
5. Giuliani - I like rootie’s style and demeanor. Beyond that... if I talked any more about him I’d have to shower off the putrid stink of festering liberalism and gun-grabbing baby killing.
6. Hunter - He is possibly the best ELECTED Conservative serving in our government today. I’d vote for him and Thompson, without hesitation... see I know that I am a Conservative... and that America needs a Conservative leader NOW... and I will NEVER AGAIN vote for a liberal... even if he or she have an “R” beside their name.
7. Tancredo - A good man and great Conservative... he has no mojo for the big run. Sad really... he is a good man.
8. Paul - Kucinich... ‘nuff said.
9. Keyes - What a guy!!! He was a great UN Ambassador... I love this guy... all except the “reparations” thing. He is a firebrand... an in-your-face originalist Conservative... his rants would make Dennis Miller blush... he despises osama obamaramadamadingdong. He cannot get elected due to the fact that he campaigns like a flame thrower. I’d vote for him just to see reid and pelosi’s heads explode!
That is how I see things... YMMV and all that other pc junk.
LLS
1). Ron Paul-Solid on a lot of Domestic policies. Strong on China, the border, immigration, love the ending “birthright citizenship”. That would end a lot of illegals coming over in the first place. Has $$ from supporters. Sunday will be another big day for him
2) Duncan Hunter- The Guy is solid on a lot of issues. Like Paul, China and Immigration. Foreign Policy seems to be strong as well. Only guy I hear talking everyday to release Ramos and Compean. Lacks $$, I don’t understand why. Great VP or Sec of Defense
3) Tom Tancredo- Like that he shot from the hip. Great on immigration as well. Great Homeland Security potential.
4) Fred Thompson- Has some strong credentials, good sense of humor, really only one of the 4 with a real shot of winning . My gut tells me his wife wants him to be president more than he does.
I do not care about the other candidates.
Hunter
Tancredo
Paul
Thompson
all the rest- not worth mentioning.
lol we almost posted the same thing!
Correction- Not that anyone cares.
3) Tom Tancredo- I like that he SHOOTS from the hip.
Hunter is solid. I for the life of me cannot understand his lack of money and his popularity. I do see a home for him if the GOP keeps the WH.
A friend was visiting from the San Diego area and said Hunter has done an outstanding job in S/D.
Hope Hunter does well.
1) Hunter
2) Thompson
The others (aside from Tancredo) are too depressing to think about.
I didn’t know we had Katrina in common, too. Destroyed my business in D’iberville. Life goes on...
After looking at your pics...BUT MAINLY YOUR explainations
I think you are out of touch and delusional

Well, to me, as you can see from my tagline, it’s all about electability. In my mind there is NO Republican candidate who could POSSIBLY do as much damage to this country as any of the Democrats in the race. And by a wide, wide margin.
So, if based on that criteria, here goes:
1) Romney
2) Rudy
3) Thompson
4) McCain
5) Hunter
6) Huckabee
7) Tancredo
8) Paul
9) Keyes
The first three are very close, practically interchangeable. McCain is alone in the second tier, and the rest a distant glimmer.
If, however, I could install the President, that list would look different. Fred Thompson would be on the top of it.
If the GOP nominates Giuliani or McCain I will vote for the Constitution Party. If I get one reponse saying that will help elect Hillary......I might just vote for her instead, to punish the GOP even further.
I have said since the beginning that I have two priorities in this election, everything else will fall into place after that.
1)- Rudy - WOT, Leadership, and Electability.
2)- McCain - WOT, and Electability
3)- Mitt - Leadership, Electability, and a Great organization.
4)- Fred - Federalism, and his non pandering attitude.
5)- Huck - NONE OF THE ABOVE, but is a wonderful speaker, which has been lacking in the past 8 years.
I am truly a "security mom", and my number one concern is beating the IslamoFascits. Rudy speaks to them with the ba*ls it will take to defeat them. The other side will appease them like our European counterparts have done, and they are being overtaken. I do not want that here!!
My #1-2 will change based on who is the most viable candidate by the time I vote.
My two top concerns are WOT, and Electability, because in the end if they are not elected nothing else matters.
1. Huckabee
2. Paul
3. McCain
4. Hunter
5. Romney
6. Thompson
7. Tancredo
8. Rudy
9. Keyes
***If I get one reponse saying that will help elect Hillary......I might just vote for her instead, to punish the GOP even further.***
So you want hillary to win? LOL
1. Mitt
2. Fred
3. McCain
4. Guiliani
4. Huckabee
I don’t think Tancredo, Hunter, Paul or Keys even has a shot, so I didn’t bother to rank them.
1. Fred Thompson
2. Hunter
3. Tancredo
4.Huck
5. McLame ? not sure if I could pull that lever.
The rest= I’d vote 3rd party.
1. Hunter
2. Thomson
3. Tancredo
Who Cares: Tie- McCain, Huckabee, Paul
Staying Home: Tie- Romney, Guliani
LMAO: Keyes
I’m sure most of you have seen this website, where you can rank your preferences on the issues, and it will tell you which candidate most supports your views:
http://www.vajoe.com/candidate_calculator.html
I was surprised - I was leaning with Fred, but according to my selections, Mitt would be a better fit. (96% vs 93%)
And the least likely candidate for me? No surprise - Dennis Kucinich, with 2%. (How I end up agreeing with him on even 2%, I’ll never know).
I don’t like Giuliani.
I like McCain and Ron Paul even less.
But I would vote for Alfred E. Newmann to keep the Clintons out of the White House.
Who is Mark?

[Hunter - He is possibly the best ELECTED Conservative serving in our government today. Id vote for him and Thompson, without hesitation... see I know that I am a Conservative... and that America needs a Conservative leader NOW... and I will NEVER AGAIN vote for a liberal... even if he or she have an R beside their name.]
Well said and true. But we live in a time when the right is moving to the center and conservatism must go third party in order to be represented in their local areas.
I Concur!
You and Lib Lie Slayer have listed my exact list in their correct order including the ones that I would never vote for under any circumstance. I feel that the polls are so scued by the press that we have no good indication on how America will vote.
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL AND HAVE A HAPPY NEW YEAR ALSO!
BARRY
Fred was not that far behind, but as I said my priority sounding tough on WOT. I know that almost all of the candidates will be tough on WOT, but I want someone who will be as vocal as possible on it, and so far that man is Rudy.
One thing I do know is that any of our top guys would be someone I would be proud to vote for, so I don't get my undies in a bundle when they switch places in the polls, because I think they would all be good Presidents. I am least sure of Huck, but in the end I think he is a good man who will stand up for America, and that is something I am unsure of for all of the Dem candidates.

Das wut I’m talkin’ ‘bout!
LLS
My choices would be:
Hunter
Fred
Tancredo
Huckabee
Keyes
3rd party conservative of the originally GOP conservative platform who would not try to get along with the marxist run left as President Bush has and has wreaked his legacy.
Cool. It calculated Tancredo, Hunter, Cox (?) and then Thompson.
About what I expected.
1. Fred
2. Mitt
3. Hunter
I cannot bring myself to think about Rooty.
I think Mr. Huckabee would make a great used car salesman, but I do not think that he is not a Conservative.
If liberal scumbags like you elect that pathetic gun-grabbing abortionist Giuliani.....then YES.
