The devil made Larry do it.
Don't blame Lawrence O'Donnell for his ugly anti-Mormon rant. It was really the fault of O'Donnell's fellow panelists. That's Frank Rich's take on the unseemly episode on the McLaughin Group a couple Fridays ago.
Rich claims in his NY Times column of today that O'Donnell was:
"pushed over the edge by his peers polite chatter about Mitt Romneys sermon on 'Faith in America.'

Kindly clarify to which dude you’re referring: Rich, O’Donnell or both? ;-)

Saw the show, and NO ONE pushed him.
O’Donnell was on ‘autopilot’. This is a barometer of
what is coming if the GOP dates makes Romney-RINO a
playing in the upcoming election.

Kindly clarify to which dude youre referring: Rich, ODonnell or both? ;-) Mostly O'Donnell. There is something feminine as in unmanly about an outraged liberal. I would enjoy "meeting" O'Donnell in a dark ally personally.
Rich I usually ignore but I heard the audio of this and there is no defence for Rich's position either.
So .... a beat down would do them both some good. Thanks for letting me extend my remarks.

Interesting that Rich found it necessary to defend O’Donnell. Some of this stuff is beginning to stick to O’ Donnell

Well O’Donnell’s “rant” might be an indication of what HBO’s “Big Love” was really all about: trashing Morons, er, Mormons. He plays a slick lawyer who protects a known biggie-mast: maybe he takes the show too seriously. Iether way: he’s a certifiable nutcase.
To: governsleastgovernsbest
There can be no question ~ both!
O'Donnell is beyond obnoxious ~ he is stirring up mob emotions ~ and he's eventually going to find them vented on him.

The sane DO have some responsibility not to stir up the crazy juices of the lunatics they encounter, so maybe rich has a point besides the one on top of his head.

About as hard as pushing Rosie O’Donnell to eat.

Rich and O Donnell are both practice left wing hate speech.
Not surprising that Rich defends him. I’m sure he would say that W pushed him over the edge as well. The fact is that they are both anti Christian haters.

Sure try that excuse for any rant about blacks, homosexuals, etc. You know any group that predominately votes Dim. You would be off the air.
Mormons predominately vote GOP,so no problem.

Hmmm...so ODonnell ranted against Harry Reids religion? This is where the overweening hypocrisy comes in. A few weeks ago, an enterprising FReeper posted a news article about Harry Reid's Mormonism that was absolutely GLOWING about how the wonderful attributes of the Mormon religion had made Harry a better person.
To: governsleastgovernsbest
Saw the headline. I thought Rosie had opened her trap again.

Saw the show, and NO ONE pushed him.I saw the show also and you could tell he just couldnt wait to go off. He knew what he was going to say that morning before his make up was applied.
Did you also notice how his his hands and arms shakes a bit when he goes off? And I dont mean to say it as a disparagement of a medical condition. His anger and psyche causes him to shake while he spews this crap. The man has some serious issues yet his politics covers for any outrage that should come his way.
Kramer and Dog have to run the gauntlet of apologies for their speech, yet Larry gets a pass.

Didn’t O’Donnell have a previous meltdown on TV? They guy sounds like he might have gone off his meds again. Are they keeping him on TV for the ratings, hoping that people will tune in to see if he goes off again?

He did.
He was inteviewing John O'Neill of the Swift Boat Veteran's for Truth and kept yeliing at him calling him a liar.
He was taken off TV for awhile after the outburst and these remarks will hopefully put him back on the sidelines.
