“Second and Third shifts have been hit the hardest, and they believe the company is taking action to fix a problem that should not have happened in the first place.”

Now I suppose that those female third shift workers will be forced to go home to Mexico and points south to suffer from breast cancer and then find lawyers to sue Electrolux for damages by trying to hide their illegal status from inspectors by putting them on the dangerous night shift that has been recently shown to result in breast cancer.

CONGRESS AND THE PRESIDENT HAVE COMPLETLEY SOLD OUT THE AMERICAN WORKER.

Hey! Leave them alone! They're just rich lawyers making laws for lawyers and the rich that Americans won't make for themselves.

“After all, if they have a mortgage and kids in the local public school, it would be difficult to uproot all that.”

It goes to the point of enforcing the laws. We have ways that a person becomes Naturalized. If you can’t follow them, you can’t be a citizen. You gotta go. Difficult or not.

Within 30 days, all the same illegals were rehired as more fraudulent documents were presented for a rehire. Should Electrolux use the same practice, the illegals will be back in a short time period.

But they will be gone when Christmas bonuses are passed out. That's worth something, I suppose...

Oh yeah! Great news! Electrolux now enters the period where they can make some important choices in the current 4.9% unemployment environment.

Your forgetting the able-bodied who are milking the welfare system. We saw thousands on them partying it up down in Nar-lens before the last Lent.

Isn’t employing illegal aliens the same as slave labor?

The Swedes are supporting the slave trade.

Back in our history, minority groups were employed to work on farms, and given housing, food, and at the end of their term would be given some land and freedom (naturalization papers).

Later, minority groups were employed as housekeepers, maids, janitors, etc. and were paid on a much lower scale than a majority of the population.

It was called slavery then, and even though the skin color is a slightly different color, it’s still slavery.

Do you think electrolux is the only plant that hires illegals? ~ org.whodat

No, that’s why I’m curious about who does. ~ bert

Once upon a time I worked for a defense contractor in the Los Angeles area. I'm not saying they had illegal alien employees, but when one of the employees got a green van and parked it in front 1/3 of the staff just drove by and didn't show for work that day...

No. This is an outsourcing firm scam.

They are the companies we need to go after.

They hire illegals and help them get ‘false’ documentation.

They ‘know’ because they keep forwarding the same illegals back to the same company (in 90 days).

Punish every personnel outsourcing firm that provides illegals, and then it will stop.

Perhaps they could pay a somewhat better wage and get legals to work there instead of McDonalds.

Sure they can. At least you recognize that we have full employment, and that the workers will have to be lured from some other existing job to the vacuum cleaner plant.

What's interesting is that you've decided that vacuum cleaners deserve higher wages than hamburgers.

According to a quick financial data look-see

Electrolux (ELUXY) Profit Margins % Company Industry S&P 500
Gross Margin 19.6 22.5 37.7
Pre-Tax Margin 4.2 5.0 18.9
Net Profit Margin 3.1 4.0 13.3
5Yr Gross Margin (5-Year Avg.) 23.7 24.6 37.0
5Yr PreTax Margin (5-Year Avg.) 3.7 4.3 17.5
5Yr Net Profit Margin (5-Year Avg.) 2.5 2.9 12.0

McDonalds Profit Margins % Company Industry S&P 500
Gross Margin 33.9 30.3 37.7
Pre-Tax Margin 14.8 11.6 18.9
Net Profit Margin 8.0 7.0 13.3
5Yr Gross Margin (5-Year Avg.) 31.3 29.8 37.0
5Yr PreTax Margin (5-Year Avg.) 16.3 11.8 17.5
5Yr Net Profit Margin (5-Year Avg.) 11.1 8.0 12.0

So tell me why you think Electrolux has so much elbow-room to hire away the McDonalds people? Fact is, American Consumers are willing to pay more overhead, and give higher profits for a hamburger than they will to have an American Made vacuum cleaner.

All this will do is come down to another oppty for a Chinese manufacturer to close down another American plant for good. And you won't be there to support them with your dollars, will you?

Valdez avoided the identity-theft charge because a judge ruled that it was not a crime to use someone’s identity to obtain employment.

I read that and could not believe what I was reading. If this is the case and the law of land what prevents the rest of us from making up SSA numbers or using someone else's and not paying taxes. Hope he gets over ruled and taken off the bench..I know dream on.

No! I'm not forgetting them, 'tall! =)

People act like China is a Communist state....it is not. There is NO SUCH THING as socialist welfare in china as it exists in America. You get displaced in a flood in china, local party head says, "here's a red blanket, get back in the rice fields you sorrow waste of space!"

The American Consumer is the one who enables the chinese and illegals. Because they talk the talk, and refuse to walk the walk. I know this is true on FR because every PC and cable/DSL-modem has components made in China, and nobody refuses to post on FR.

Nor should they have to. What's your point?

According the the numbers above, the fast-food biz has a much cushier profit margin to operate in than any manufacturing business I know of.

It’s easy for some to blame it all on the employers. They are due blame, but this Administration, and its policies, are more to blame.

It is GOVERNMENT’S sole duty and responsibility to protect our borders, not employers.

It is government’s duty to verify employee records submitted with other government/legal documents used for that purpose, not an employer’s, just as an employer is also not able to obtain banking information about an employee without the employee signing a release. The bank cannot release most information without its client’s authorization. Here, we have a government that is not investigation or reporting on information to the very employer who submits information to it.

And because the government is negligent in its duties, employers, especially those who WANT to hire illegals, take advantage of GOVERNMENT’S WILLFUL negligence.
