I was about to post so I’ll just add the transcript:
STEVE DOOCY: Mike Huckabee has started running an ad in Iowa, where you’re at right now, also in New Hampshire and South Carolina, and in the back, it’s a windowpane but it also looks a lot like a cross. And, and, we had a guest a little while ago who said it was inappropriate to be using religion for political purposes. Congressman, I’m just curious what you think?
RON PAUL: Well, I haven’t thought about it completely, but you know, it reminds me of what Sinclair, uh, Lewis once said, he said ‘when Fascism comes to this country, it will be wrapped in the flag, carrying a cross.’ I don’t know whether that’s a fair assessment or not, but you wonder about using a cross like he is the only Christian, or implying that subtly. So, uh, I don’t think I would ever use anything like that.
DOOCY: So, uh, Congressm you know, uh, Governor Huckabee is not selling fascism. He’s simply sending out a Christmas message, anyway, just curious how you felt about that. Congressman, if you would sit right there in Des Moines just for a moment, we’re going to take a quick time out...

Well, well, well. Patriotism and Christianity are bad now. His point, I hope, is that the appearance of good will seduce us to evil. That said, is this type of fascism what we have to be concerned about in 2008? It seems to me that the fascism that is rising is a globalist and athiestic/materialist idealism . . . not one race but one elite that will ultimately have absolute power. Patriotism and Christianity will be forces opposing this, not helping it.

Did Ron just jump the shark?
A disdain for Christians is not the way to win the hearts and minds of Conservative Christian Republicans.
But then again, those aren't his supporters anyway, so his statement probably enhanced his appeal to his target audience.

Ron Paul Charges Huck Implies He's The Only ChristianNational Review Online
Hot Air has the video; here's the transcript, of Ron Paul's reaction to Mike Huckabee's Christmas ad, given a short while ago on Fox News:
STEVE DOOCY: Mike Huckabee has started running an ad in Iowa, where you're at right now, also in New Hampshire and South Carolina, and in the back, it's a windowpane but it also looks a lot like a cross. And, and, we had a guest a little while ago who said it was inappropriate to be using religion for political purposes. Congressman, I'm just curious what you think? RON PAUL: Well, I haven't thought about it completely, but you know, it reminds me of what Sinclair, uh, Lewis once said, he said 'when Fascism comes to this country, it will be wrapped in the flag, carrying a cross.' I don't know whether that's a fair assessment or not, but you wonder about using a cross like he is the only Christian, or implying that subtly. So, uh, I don't think I would ever use anything like that.
DOOCY: So, uh, Congressm you know, uh, Governor Huckabee is not selling fascism. He's simply sending out a Christmas message, anyway, just curious how you felt about that. Congressman, if you would sit right there in Des Moines just for a moment, we're going to take a quick time out...
I wonder if I'll hear more angry responses from Ron Paul folks or Mike Huckabee folks. (Once again, folks, complaining to me doesn't do any good.) The Ron Paul folks have a legitimate gripe in that his appearance appeared to be to talk about Paul's record fundraising day, but the only question - at least in this segment - was about this ad. (Has Paul even seen the ad? He speaks as if he has, but doesn't say so explicitly...)
On the other hand, the Huckabee folks are probably fuming about the ad being called fascist, even though Paul backtracks on whether it's a fair assessment or not.

This is an old liberal sound bite Ru Paul is rehashing...he’s a nutter all right. He thinks it sounds good, regardless of the rhetorical lie it is...in essence is insulting everyone that is both a patriot and a christian, which is exactly what every liberal fears...
Liberals hate standards of excellence...because they, personally, dont measure up...and that makes them feel bad. And anything that makes them “feel” bad must be hated and demeaned...hence...the statment.
Ru Paul just shows what a weak mind he has...day in...and day out.
On behalf of TX, I personally apologize for this clown.

The quote is absolutely correct....not sure the context was.
I actually liked the Huckabee ad.
I’ve been hearing mummers that Ron Paul is anti-christain...so what’s the scuttle bug?
I don’t think that would be a fair assessment based on this particular quote from Paul.

“What will fascism be wrapped in if/when it comes?”
Maybe freerepublic.com?
To: tacticalogic
As I said in a previous comment, historically fascists wrapped themselves in a rebellion or ‘revolution’, they only took on the symbols of righteousness after they created the revolution against the existing powers.
This may prompt a new chapter for my book.

Peel away the layers of a liberal, and it wont take long to reveal someone who has real issues with God. The primary driving motivation behind liberalism is that individuals should not be accountable (judged) for their behaviors. In the case of natural consequences for behaviors, some innocent third party must be forced to pay those consequences.
This is liberalism.
Yes, they have real issues with God, because God is an unappealable, objective JUDGE of their behavior.
