Again no positive recomendations. Only demeaning me. How sad and especially when I’d be pleased if Fred would win it all.

I reviewed the article and only found a restatement of his policy positions and the fact that he’s going to meet as many Iowa voter as he can. But that’s not an effort at image change. It’s an effort at getting out his policy message and every candidate will be doing that.

The first 10 posts and found nothing that “deals with it” so yes please...light a candle for me. Give me a short list of the positive things in the first 10 posts that are being done to counter the perception of the candidate.

I’m still the only poster who has recomended any positive action to change his public image. Post #48

I didn’t call you a flamer. I said “Everyone wants to flame me.” That’s accurate, civil, respectful and especially so because it refers to no individual specifically.

I do agree with your statement,
“I am saddened that we need fluff to sell something that is so important and literally life altering.”

But it’s best to deal with life the way it is rather than the way we wish it were. In addition if we (Fred) ignores this truth the consequences will be...

Regarding your link...It’s good for Fred to get endorsements. But he has to do more.

Look at the excitement Obama has generated with his “Oprah tour” where he is able to speak to a crowd of 10,000. Contrast that with Fred’s meeting in the posted article in which he spoke to 30.

Which do you think made the respective candidate look more exciting?

Fred is the candidate of fate. He wins if he wins. He doesn’t need fluff. Either people hear his message and respond or they don’t. Are these fair statements?

Your words:
“so why dont all you flamers come up with better ones that might energize the campaign.”
I have not flamed you but have tried to have a discourse with you.

Where did you come up with the number 30?
I went back and read it and maybe I missed it. Did you read the article?
... “It’s hoots and hollers and ‘hell yeas’ from the back of the room. It’s almost Revivalesque. It’s stuff we’re not used to in Iowa,” says Haus.”

It takes me and you and all his supporters to go out and show the real Fred. Unfortunately we are fighting against this image that has been sold by the media. I have never seen him as the things they portray him to be. But I will continue to show people the Fred I see. I dont know that a hip young singer will bring any focus to him.
And just for an fyi...Oprah is now facing a big backlash from her longtime fans for her stumping. So in the long run will it help Obama?
Having a celeb could also backfire. Since I have no answer ...I will just keep fighting on.

I am a believer in grassroots. Too many discount it and I have seen it stump the best of them and work. Fate? Not exactly.
Lots of people doing lots of hard work is more like it.
Fred himself has said ..its up to the people. Either they will respond or they wont.
So yes thats fair.

Again, I have not called YOU a flamer. My comment was general and to those dozen to 2 dozen who did attack me and always falsely. Although your question, “Did you read the article” seems somewhat sarcastic.

I know you think you’ve tried to have a discourse with me but truly all you’ve done is to defend Fred. What’s interesting about that is I have not attacked Fred. I only want for his candidacy to be stronger and have a greater breadth of appeal. But there seems to be a group of Fredheads who want to believe everything about the campaign is wonderful, nothing can be improved and anyone calling for ideas that might improve it is against Fred.

Third paragraph of the article posted above:
“Thompson, who has occasionally been labeled a less-than-energetic campaigner, spoke with enthusiasm to about 30 people at a town hall in Manchester while his blue campaign bus, emblazoned with a huge picture of his head and shoulders, waited outside.”

The backlash against Oprah is just that...against Oprah...not Obama. Anyone endorsing Fred who could bring large crowds of voters together and then introduce Fred so he could speak to them would be positive.

The thread has lost its momentum and not one person other than me has offered one suggestion to improve Fred’s image.

Same strategy employed by Bob Dole in 1996.

He’s right on most of the issues but he’ll have to show a lot more fire in the belly

Where do you people get these stupid clichéd talking points?

What do you mean by “You People”

Why engage with the issue rather than disparage the manner in which it is mentioned?

I have seen that stupid cliche' used a thousand times. You used it. Therefore you are one of the people I was addressing.

Can't you come up with an original talking point?

"Fire in the Belly"

That's REALLY getting old fast.

OK. You got your irrelevant shot in.

Now. Fred has an image problem. To the average voter he appears tired, old, and not inspirational. Given the fascination that the American public has with all things young, vigorous, and exciting, if he doesn’t change the public impression of him he’ll lose. People vote with both their heads and their hearts. He can be right on the issues but that’s not enough. People have to...As the kids say... FEEL him. What can Fred do to change his image?

For me, an former admirer of Fred, this has been the most frustrating part of his campaign. Fred needs more than conservative credentials and ideas but needs to connect with a broader range of Conservatives than yourself. If I say “the Great Communicator” who do you think of? Fred does not come to mind, at least for me.

Polls on the guy showing he is stagnant, rising or dead in the water?

I’d like to see him get it, but not so sure he has the traction starting for that yet.

Maybe instead of trying to convince Fred Thompson to try to be something he isn't (young and exciting) maybe we should be telling all our friends and fellow Americans that they need to be a little less superficial in choosing their leaders since the survival of our nation is at stake.

Fred is not going to suddenly start looking young and vibrant. America needs to get over its fascination with good looks and get down to picking a good leader. If America is that superficial, then by God we deserve Barak Obama (who just happens to be all the things you mentioned are important to the American People).
