CONCORD, N.H. — Barack Obama picked up an endorsement Tuesday from filmmaker Ken Burns, who said he was disappointed in what he called the negative tone of Hillary Rodham Clinton’s campaign.
Burns, a Walpole, N.H., resident, said the back-and-forth between Obama and Clinton shows the country needs “a leader who calls upon on each and every one of us to heed the better angels of our nature and not — and not — our basest fears.” “

Well, no need for elections now, the great Ken Burns has spoken. Smiley can start measuring for the drapes.
I wonder when they’re gonna release some interviews of his high school friends into the fray.
I wonder when they’re gonna release some interviews of his high school friends into the fray.
Yes, but who will get the great Rosie O’Donnell and Michael Moore endorsements? Too bad the Pillsbury Dough Boy, Ronald McDonald or the Burger King aren’t running for office...
Follow the money right back to liberal PBS, apolitical my ..a&@.. well we can’t say that here.
Castro?
What makes this nitwit think Obama is a “leader?”
Could he name ONE time Obama has ever demonstrated leadership in any shape or form?
He’s a completely blank slate upon which many are projecting their dreams - without a shred of evidence.
Chauncy Gardener.
Say that headline 3 times real fast.
Anyone know how much money Burns was paid for his War documentary? However much it was, I’m SHOCKED that PBS didn’t fund a conservative film maker to produce a WWII film!
..jeeezzz, where ya been for 15 years?
I would totally vote for the Burger King.
I don't like Ronald McDonald's liberal agenda.
Also, Andrea Mitchell. She doesn’t even think that Chris Matthews is a “liberal thinker”.
But you’re OK with the Burger King’s Monarchist tendencies and the Hamburglar in a Kleptocratic Cabinet???
Well’ it’s all over now.
they most certainly color his work same Speilbergs or DePalmas do theirs
God bless the Cohen bros
I suppose, but I don’t think his films are meant to merely paint pictures of truth. I don’t mean that his films are of no worth, but they do have an agenda and a viewpoint.
I’m not surprised that white liberals living in affluent white rural New Hampshire towns support the liberal black candidate. I remember the same thing happening among libs I knew when Jesse Jackson ran for Prez in 1988.
New Hampshire demographics, 2005 (NH is first value, USA is second value):
White persons 96.1% 80.2%
Black persons 1.0% 12.8%
American Indian and Alaska Native 0.2% 1.0%
Asian persons, percent, 2005 (a) 1.7% 4.3%
Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander 0.0% 0.2%
Persons reporting two or more races 1.0% 1.5%
Persons of Hispanic or Latino origin) 2.2% 14.4%
White persons not Hispanic 94.1% 66.9%
That's just pure Burger King Derangement Syndrome (BKDS).
Objective Art is an oxymoron. The Coen Bros’ chic nihilism is all over their films.
that’s just dry
i don’t find any of their works to be hammy political ever
Of course they have a viewpoint. So did Gibbon, the Durants and Toynbee.
Only because Lenin wasn’t running, I think.
“Anyone still think Burns is apolitical? Anyone think his viewpoints
don’t color his films?”
He made “The War” the sort of film that will have millions of high
school students either nodding off after about 10-15 minutes...
or imploring the history teacher “PLEASE! Can we just go back to
your rote lecture format?”
The Civil War is virtually unavoidable in high school history classes.
Well, I feel better knowing which candidate Burns is supporting. This news is hugh!

I like the War and the Civil War, especially the part where Sherman tore through the South.. BUT I also knew he was lefty as well.
Just be thankful he didn’t make “The Vietnam War”.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see him take that on at some point.
I liked “The Civil War” except for the woman who kept discussing the war as righteous intervention against slavery. It was an economic war, although there were some groups against slavery.
Oh yes, I actually forgot about that. I also miss Shelby Foote’s explanations on the Civil War.
Can Burns tie his shoes? Gotta give him credit - with these pathetics running in this corrupt “Two-Party Cartel” except for Tancredo & Hunter, Paul, the rest are compromised.
That’s it? No 15 hour documentary explaining how and why?
I expected a little bit more from Ken Burns.
No one is completely apolitical, and your viewpoints are bound to seep into anything you do, but my impression is that at least Burns lets opposing viewpoints make their case, and you can’t say fairer than that.
The “Civil War” was very good (even though the Union side gets more air time).
Kleptocratic...LOL. I like that. Very funny!
what a surprise. I haven’t watched anything of his since Mario Cuomo was somehow the most appropriate person to tell us about baseball. And his favorite moment of the Civil War series was the historian who questioned whether we can truly say the Civil War is over when there are Americans who live in houses and there are Americans who are homeless and to see her struggle with that issue.
I’m looking forward to the campaign documentary, “The Old Negro Presidential Campaign”.
Documentarian Ken Burns Backs Barack Obama...
this so-called apolitical gets public funding....now wonder his shlockamentaries are colored.......
and ya know what I’m talkin ‘bout!!!!
I’m surprised he isn’t supporting Edwards, they make a great couple
Shock, burns is a slimy socialist “historian” film maker..
Who makes better docs about Americana?
Obama's followers are attracted to his persona. I've never heard Obama make any relevant/realistic assessment of what needs to be done concerning defense, the economy, or any other important issue. What are Obama's brass tacks policy statements? Who knows? All we hear is about his optimism for the future and change. Boy, we sure need that (smirk). Hey, who needs any relevant down-to-earth appraisal of anything? (double smirk) You are absolutely correct. Obama is just a "charismatic" smiling face with nothing to back it up.
Burns is a lefty, no doubt that also makes it way into his “documentaries”.
Yeah, they’ll vote for them . . . as long as they don’t have to live around them.
I know plenty of liberals like that. And they don’t have to live in NH.
He's not. In order to be a liberal thinker, you have to be a thinker.
Oh, big shock. Not.
I despise this guy. Overrated in so many ways. Anyone who thinks he’s NOT “political” in his boring documentaries is blind and deaf.
