Jewish worshippers Tuesday were stunned to find Arabs had desecrated the graves of the Biblical Joshua, Caleb and Nun (Joshuas father).
Joshua served as the Jewish Nation's Prime Minister from the year 2488 until 2516 on the Hebrew calendar (1272 BCE - 1300 BCE).
Members of the One Shechem organization that organizes visits to the graves arrived in the village of Timnat (Kifl) Haress, near Ariel in Samaria, to prepare for a special prayer gathering, discovered that Arab vandals had desecrated the villages Jewish tombs. The tombs of Yehoshua (Joshua) ben Nun, Nun, and Calev (Caleb) ben Yefuneh were covered with garbage and feces both human and animal, and anti-Semitic and Nazi slogans and symbols had been painted in the area.
Nevertheless, worshippers gathered at the tombs Tuesday night for special prayers on the tenth of Tevet, the day Kaddish and other prayers are recited for those whose date of death is unknown, such as Calev ben Yefuneh. Organizers had cleaned up the damage and attendees reported a positive experience.
The prayers were also to mark the end of the 30-day increased-stricture mourning period for murdered Jewish father Ido Zoldan of Kedumim, by a Palestinian Authority police officer.
Organizers reported that a wide array of Jews hareidi, national religious and traditional took part in the visit and prayers. They also praised the cooperation of security forces, particularly the Efraim Division of the IDF.
The One Shechem organization issued a call to the public to do everything in their power to preserve the holy sites in Samaria, including Josephs Tomb in Shechem and to fight for the right of Jews to visit and worship there freely.

That’s what you get when you let the Barbarians get their claws on the sacred sites of the Bible. And the “International community” just promised those animals another 7 billion dollars.

I think they use BCE because it’s a Jewish publication.

Now, if it were the Jews or Christians doing something similar to muslim graves, the “Arab Street” would be rioting all over the world, hacking off heads, and the MSM and the RATS would be defending their “outrage”.

We recognize the authority of the Almighty, but we don’t recognize the authority of Christ - BC stands for “Before Christ,” so why should we use that abbreviation any more than you’d use the Islamic calendar for dates?

"BCE" and "CE" originated with Jews, not atheists. Why would Jews use "Before Christian Era" and "Christian Era" in assigning dates?
/I know, I know....
To: West Coast Conservative
Didn’t they do the same at the Nativity a couple of years ago? They were hiding and took sanctuary in a church and then basically defecated all over the place.
To: West Coast Conservative
I’ll give a Jewish publication a pass for using BCE and CE. However, referring to Joshua as a Prime Minister, as if he were the Benjamin Netanyahu of antiquity overseeing the Jewish “Parliament” is really, really silly.

You change what "BC" stands for but you can't change what it means. It's a meaningless protest to use Christ as the hinge of history around which the world's predominant calendar swings... and ignore Christ Himself. All you do with this is give the secularists another idea of how to push our society more to their liking... and I promise you it won't be to yours.

We don’t. BCE is understood to mean “before the common era” and CE means Common Era. Anno Domini isn’t a comfortable phrase for those of us who don’t recognize Jesus as Dominus (or the Son of Dominus), and of course we’re equally uncomfortable with Before Christ inasmuch as the latter word means Messiah in Greek.

For this period of Israelite history there are no firm dates, just educated guesses...and anyway dates BCE or BC are counted downwards. Joshua himself was Israelite but not Jewish--he was of the tribe of Ephraim, descended from Joseph, not of the tribe of Judah.
Caleb is called a Kenezite (Joshua 14.6)--I think that would make him a descendant of Kenaz, a grandson of Esau (cf. Genesis 36.11), rather than a descendant of Jacob, although he is treated as a member of the tribe of Judah in Numbers 13.6.
To: West Coast Conservative
I’m sure the Jewish Democrats in the MSM will somehow find a rationalization for this behavior.
Like the bigoted, hate-filled clown in the WashPo we threaded earlier today.

I was basing that on what friends have told me . . . googled and saw that around 49% go to synagogue, 51% do not. That would be considerable lower than numbers I've seen which are usually up in the 70% range. Of course it would depend on whether they're querying on weekly or occasional attendance and whether they're questioning only Jews. 49% weekly attendance would be higher than Church/Synagogue attendance in most polls.
