“Fred needs a Christmas miracle. Hopefully he’ll get a V.P. or cabinet position if he doesn’t get one.”

Fred has already said he isn’t interested in any position except Pres. Though I do think VP would be great... I seriously doubt that Rudy or Mitt will ask as they hate him.

Though.. if Rudy or Mitt did, it would be much easier to carry those southern states.

“His supporters say that demonstrates leadership, even if he has yet to put forth specifics on issues like health care.”

If anything Fred has been the first to put out specific detailed stands on the issues, even those that the other candidates did not want to address in specifics.

I love Fred Thompson.

But he looks awful (physically) as of late.

Saw him on Fox & Friends (?) Wednesday morning, and there were bags under Fred’s eyes which looked to be 25-pounds each.

Methinks the recent bout he had with ? cancer ? has left him bedraggled and worn out.

I love Fred, his stature, how he talks and how he thinks.

But I fear his best years are behind him.

A four or eight year US Presidency stint would be waaay too much for him to handle.

With the exception of Barack and Edwards, virtually all of the candidates are in their sixties. Have you seen Hillary or Mitt without their make-up? Scary.

But in the end I'm going for the person with the best ideas, Fred. His wife will be nearby to provide the good looks.

Considering the publication, I'm surprised they didn't have you slamming Sen. Thompson and blaming President Bush for cold Iowa weather.

Good job. It's nice to hear from someone on the ground there.

What jumped out at me in the article is that they claim he's "hoping to place third". I hope this isn't the message coming out of the campaign. I'm assuming this is the normal NYT spin.

Remember how we (at least me and others around here) used to make fun of John Kerry and his botox injections? Is botox really a factor in determining the worthiness of a President?

Lying sack of ****.

You're a Mitt Romney worshiper who's been doing nothing but bashing Fred Thompson.

Whose campaign are you working for?

“Romney might be a great manager, but Senator Thompson seems to be a stronger leader."

A claim without evidence. If you have it, what is it?

Evidence for Romney:

- Romney led--he did not manage--Bain Capital from mediocrity to the push it to the stratosphere of success as a venture capital firm, creating such successful national chains as Dominoes Pizza, The Sports Authority, and Staples, spinning off tens of thousands of jobs for Americans in the process. As a leader in his industry he was very much the equal of such legendary American industry leaders as Lee Iacocca, Jack Welch, and Thomas Watson. If you have any idea at all of who these men are or were you will know they were not "managers."

- Romney took over the controls of the Salt Lake Olympics when it was riddled with scandal and incompetence and about to crash headlong into the abyss of bankruptcy. He not only wrenched it into a new course and pulled it from disaster, he took it into the stratosphere of spotlessly clean public and financial success. And he refused to accept any salary for his efforts. That's not "management" friends. That's dynamic leadership of the HIGHEST quality.

Evidence for Thompson:

- Led a staff of about a dozen senate staffers, but to what end (apart from getting McCain-Feingold passed).

- Led a senate committee chaged with investigating illegal contributions from the Chinese to the Democrats.

I like Fred. He's my number two choice. The reason he's my number two choice is that he has NOT demonstrated superior leadership skills in the way that my number one choice has.

“Thompson picks up the pace in Iowa”...

...and breaks into a slow crawl. Don’t blink, you might miss “Flash”.

Not so fast. You conveniently left out that he also led a successful TV Show by correctly reading his prepared lines every week. So there.

I think he explained that he talked to the reporter at length and it was the NYT's decision to boil it down to this one quote.

That picture has an almost Norman Rockwell feel to it.

It's also perfectly framed for use as computer screen wallpaper, if you could get a higher resolution version.
