In what may be the largest early release of inmates in U.S. history, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's administration is proposing to open the prison gates next year for some 22,000 low-risk offenders. According to details of a budget proposal made available to The Bee, the administration will ask the Legislature to authorize the release of certain non-serious, nonviolent, non-sex offenders who are in the final 20 months of their terms. The proposal would cut the prison population by 22,159 inmates and save the cash-strapped state an estimated $256 million in the fiscal year that begins July 1 and more than $780 million through June 30, 2010. The proposal also calls for a reduction of more than 4,000 prison jobs, most of them involving correctional officers.

We finally get crime somewhat under control, and now this. What a mother f-——g a-——e! Where do I sign the recall petition? This guy has gone stark raving mad. We’re tens of billions in debt, can’t pay our bills as it is, and now he wants to start a state healthcare plan. Just fire his ass!

Maybe buy a new governor. With the writers strike, we cannot seem to find a script he will follow that does not punish the law abiding, tax-paying Californian

Wonder how many will be illegals? Using some one else’s SS # I am sure will be considered low risk.

That financial analysis fiction should be an interesting read. Did they make any allowance for increased policing costs, the cost to the new victims, the cost to reincarcerate, etc.? I'll bet that when all is said and done the net effect will be an expense.

There was an article in last Thursday’s Wall Street Journal that described the financial difficulties that will befall California because of the sub-prime mortgage mess. In the next 18 months, California will have about $12-15 Billion shortfall in tax revenue. That is huge, my FRiends.

I would be for this prisoner release plan if I was guaranteed that all of the Democratic party’s politicians in California would be incarcerated, 30 years minimum.

Where do I sign the recall petition?

I agree he should go. But, seeing that this is Kalifornia, the liberals in that state will continue to elect the likes of Grarnold Schwarzadavis.

Liberals are truly mentally deranged.

Due to a 12% annual increase in revenue but a 24% increase in spending.

We were told they were saving money for a rainy day but that was another lie.

Due to a 12% annual increase in revenue but a 24% increase in spending.

These are separate issues apart (but additive) from the property tax reductions. It's worse than you know. That was the point of citing the WSJ article.

"... In what may be the largest early release of inmates in U.S. history, the administration will ask the Legislature to authorize the release of certain non-serious, nonviolent, non-sex offenders..."

PREDICTIONS:

1. Certain non-serious, nonviolent, non-sex crimes to rise in California on the largest scale in history.

2. All other serious, violent, and sex-related crimes to rise by a slightly more appreciable amount over the same period.

certain non-serious, nonviolent, non-sex offenders .....................Why is it that those fitting the above description were even in prison to begin with?
