Try to sell that line at the Iowa caucuses in 2 weeks. “If not the best, at least not the worst.” That was Jimmy Carter’s old line. It really worked well for him.
The problem for Huckabee is that he is the worst candidate in the GOP field. His prolife bona fides kept him afloat. Now that they are shattered, he is going down like the HMS Titanic.

Didn’t Jim Wright, the former Democrat Speaker of the House in the 1980s get in trouble for this, selling books that were disguised campaign contributions?

Be careful. The writer of this piece may be stretching a legitimate activity into something he/she hopes will evoke a sinister aura.
Generally honoria means compensation for speaking or participating in a conference. That said the $35,000 if it is a true amount is alot for a little known governor of a backwater state. Huckabee likely participated in many engagements. His theological and government experience would make him qualified to speak on bioethical issues of stem cell research. Generally such speaking engagements occur in a series of conferences that are hosted by a consortium of pharmaceutical companies and they will happen in many cities and many states. So it’s safe to say that if one is a guest speaker and is slated to speak at say 5 such conferences, the $7,000 per conference is enough to cover travel and lodging expenses, security expenses and compensation for participating.
The pharmaceutical industry continually runs conferences with invited speakers and their honoria are generally pretty good. Some prominent doctors can make $2500 per day not including travel and lodging expenses.
If you mean pro-life record, I do not believe that McCain has a 100% pro-life record. I thought that, too, but the president of Iowa Right to Life says he does not.

Yes, they are. They make products that are essential for diabetics.
However it seems odd that a sitting governor could be getting consulting fees from anyone.
That’s assuming this story is actually true.
There is so much garbage flying around about all of the candidates as the clock winds down.

THIS . . . is the real problem in the story. The 2006 debacle was about GOP corruption scandals, most of which were money related. Cunningham back-stabbed the party by being that dirty.
This is the reverse of the coin when people want to attack the rich. Yes, they are richer than others. But it also means they won’t be bribed by $35,000.

One would think, but don't count on it. I am really beginning to believe that large numbers of Republicans are supporting Huck for the sole reason that he is a Baptist minister. If true, this is the twisted left wing stereotype coming to life.

Hunter cosponsored Bob Dornan’s bills in the 1980s to legislatively protect the unborn as well. He’s been at this since 1981.
