Reliving the Florida recount

One of the most highly anticipated political telefilms being released next year is Recount, a fast-paced depiction of the behind-the-scenes drama that took place in Florida during the disputed 2000 Gore-Bush election.
[snip]
Earlier this year, the possibility was raised that this Recount might be swayed and history rewritten because writer Strong and executive producers Paula Weinstein and Sydney Pollack, as well as HBO Films President Colin Callender, are all Democratic supporters.
[snip]
There have been many incarnations of the script, the HBO representative said in response to questions about literary license taken in the film.
Still, HBO expects many of the real-life figures featured in the film will help promote the project once they see a final cut.
Were veterans in doing these projects, said the HBO rep. Weve done our homework.

Gore tried to steal the 2000 election... that's all that needs to be reported. Actually, it's a three-sentence story:
1. Gore tried to steal the 2000 election.
2. The Florida Supreme Court tried to help him steal it.
3. The US Supreme Court said "NO!".

Dems and their narcissism lunacy about 2000 elections. Gore tried to steal the election. End of telefilm.
My problem with the 2000 elections is that the courts should have let the political process run as stated in the Constitution. Bush would have won, he had the electors. Unfortunately, the FL courts are so corrupt and biased to Dems, they made unconstitutional decisions, so there was little choice but for the Supreme Court to step in. Our court system is broken.

The media tired to suppress the Conservative vote by calling Florida for Gore before the western(and more Conservative)polls closed.
Gore lost.
The media and Dems stirred up a bunch of old folks.
Recount. Gore Lost. Recount. Gore Lost. Insert Dem corruption to steal the election. Supreme Court stops the mess.
Bush wins.

Gore tried to steal the 2000 election... that's all that needs to be reported Mr. Global Warmed over conceeded the election, then tried to conceed his concession. He got the Florida Supreme Court to overturn the Florida Constitution on the matter, driving it all the way up to the U.S. Supreme Court. If the U.S. Supreme Court had not put an end to Albert Bore's shenanigans all state constitions would have become malieable throughout any election, throwing the process into chaos.

The title should not be RECOUNT, but RECOUNTS as the Democrats continued to redefine the standard by which votes would be tallied (or rejected) until they had enough votes to “win” (they never did reach that tally).

Of course they’re going to show us the part where the Gorons went out of their way to try and disallow military overseas absentee ballots through technicalities those servicemen had no control over. Probably in one second of the movie, like a flash card but my guess the movie makers will avoid the subject like the plague.

That's what shocked me the most. WTH was up with that? While I don't know for sure, I'd suspect that the bulk of the Fla. Supreme Court consists of dimocrat-appointed partisans who don't give a damn about the law when it adversely affects their party. (That may sound a bit harsh, but it certainly is how they acted.)

the supreme court refered to the points of law judged by Sauls and lawful and accurate soooooooooooo case closed on the mind and law of a Florida democrate judge........so many forget these important facts

The 2000 overseas ballots still have never been counted, and the results of self-funded media recounts have never been reported. I’ve also always wondered why Senate/Congressional hearings were never conducted over this “criminal activity by Bush” /sarc.

To: avacado
You may notice that one book that the producers did NOT consult was, “At Any Cost” by Bill Sammon of the Washington Times. It was a great expose of what Gore was doing to try to steal the election. This is going to be more revisionist history and unfortunately too many people believe what they see on TV or in the movies as being factual.

If any script accurately told the story it would show the Democrats as a bunch of opportunistic Clymer cry babies who cared nothing about the law, fairness, or the military. HBO could never show such a movie.

I’m sure it’ll harp on the fact that the SCOTUS decision was only 5-4 and ignore the fact that the decision was 7-2 on whether recounts as being done violated both constitutions. It was only 5-4 on the question of whether there was enough time to fix the system, which there wasn’t.

2. The Florida Supreme Court tried to help him steal it. That's what shocked me the most. WTH was up with that?
The Florida Supreme Court was largely composed of Democrat appointees.
And, when it came to crunch, they let their partisan instincts show.
Recall that SCOTUS' first action in the matter was to send the issue back to the Florida court, asking them to reconsider their actions in the light of certain Constitutional principles. It was a chance for the Florida court to recognize their errors and reverse their original pro-Gore decision.
Nonetheless, in a majority decision, the Florida court rejected SCOTUS' action and refused to alter their earlier action. In a dissenting opinion, even the Chief Justice of the Florida Supreme Court decried the rank partisan motives of the court's majority.
It was then, and only then, that SCOTUS shot them down -- in a 7-2 decision, it might be added. Not the narrow 5-4 decision on a subsidiary issue that the press is fond of citing.

Of course theyre going to show us the part where the Gorons went out of their way to try and disallow military overseas absentee ballots through technicalities those servicemen had no control over. And I would expect them to report on the numerous reserve units that were called-up and deployed on short notice -- mere days before the election, but after the deadline for requesting an absentee ballot had passed.
It is frankly evident that the Democrats recognized the critical role of Florida well in advance and took every opportunity to alter the electoral landscape in their favor.
