You the master of words and grammar of the English Language
is there any depth or substance too you beside your sophomoric quips!
I don’t think LDS is a cult. I have my own criteria for a cult, and I can’t see LDS meeting any of them.
a) Teachings or “scriptures” which are secret.
b) Life-changing “fees” or “donations” required for membership.
c) Separation or isolation from friends and family who are “outside” the group.
d) Difficulty or resistance in leaving or “getting out.”
My idea of a cult is Scientology, and it fits all of those. As far as I can tell, the Mormons meet none of them.
a) Mormon scriptures are free on TV.
b) Tithing is, what? 10%? Just like any other Protestant group.
c) Never heard of Mormons doing this.
d) As far as I know, Mormons can leave whenever they want, though few seem to want to leave. They’re a happy, successful, patriotic lot—as far as one can say such a thing about an entire group.
And Catholics believe that the bishops, in communion with the Pope, exercise the role of prophet (in addition to priest and king) because of the authority through the Apostles, as given to them by Christ. Granted, it is a point of argument between Catholics and Protestants.
As I said, Newman explains how doctrine developed organically in his Essay on the Development of Christian Doctrine, if you are interested in reading about it. It is not simply a negotiation that results in "doctrine of men."
Regardless, this entire topic is a rabbit hole as far as the original topic of the thread is concerned. Have a good evening.
Speaking for myself, I resent clean-living people who point to it and say, "See? YOU should be doing this!" Regular clean-living folk as well as the impure I can tolerate pretty well, thanks.
The “two-wrongs-make you right argument”
Nice logic to base your faith on.
Some scripture I encourage you to look into:
1 Peter 3:15, 2 Peter 1:20-21
& John 19:30
I’m very sorry if you choose to disbelieve.
John 3:19-21
What a wonderful article! You should repost this one every day!
Judging by the tremendous interest that every Romney thread manifests I can only conclude that Romney will garner an ever increasing support in the days ahead. Many are starting to warm to him. The more they struggle, the more they are pulled in. :^)
You didn’t even read the article.
I am amazed how fast real conservatives have majically become liberals, just for backing Mitt. /sar
It was private insurance....quit posting slanderous lies.
Thanks for sharing that, Petronski. That was very nice of you.
Sadly, people like you who hold themselves up to be conservative, act more like Democrats. Engaging in the politics of personal destruction is a liberal game, not a conservative one.
Romney hasn’t changed any more views than Fred. Can you name one politician in history, who never changed one, idea, view or opinion during his career?
I didn’t think so.
Tancredo, one of the most principaled conservative Representatives in Congress and one of the staunchest border control advocates endorsed Mitt Romney.
Somehow, I think Tancredo knows a little more than you or even I on this issue.
I don’t really trust an of the candidates on borders. But, with Tancredo’s endorsement I have more reason to trust Mitt than any of the others.
That was a good sign re Romney.
Mitt may have convinced Tancredo that he would actually shut down the border and take over the mantle that Tancredo and Hunter had thrown out there on illegal immigration.
One of the strongest suits Mitt has, is the ability to get things done!
Tom realized this also.
There is no one else in politics who combines so many outstanding qualities in one package.
