You still don’t understand. Think about the difference between motive and procedure.

An analogy to help you: imagine a student who hates to study but does it anyway for moral reasons, earning straight A’s.

You are going to be surprised by how well Fred Thompson does in Iowa.

I think we’ll all be surprised by how poorly he does. I’m now convinced he will finish behind McCain, and probably Giuliani. It’s about 50/50 whether or not he’ll be Ron Paul at this point.

You are deluding yourself if you think he’s been campaigning. He hasn’t been. He’s basically the hare in the race, not the tortoise as some have insisted. He’s not slow and steady. He’s came out strong and fast when he entered, rocketing to the top of the GOP field. Then he decided to take a nap under a tree until the very end, where he thinks he can sprint to a finish. He was wrong. He’s disappointed all of us who were behind him. That’s why he’s lost 70% of us. It’s really a damn shame.

Think about it. Your argument rests on the premise that Fred Thompson is not campaigning. Do you not see the absurdity?

Thompson will get at least second in Iowa, bringing him to an eventual victory. He will be the Republican nominee, and he will devastate his opponent in the general election.

If Fred gets 2nd or better in Iowa, then yeah, he has a real shot at the nomination. I’d say 2nd or better makes him the odds on favorite to win. But if McCain beats him and he comes in 4th or lower, he’s finished. It’s looking like that’s how it’s going to shape up. 3rd place keeps him alive but still a long shot.

Never fear, Thompson will do very well.

Have you seen the video of this speech he gave on his website?

I don’t think Thompson will do well at all.
He just doesn’t want it bad enough, and that leaves people who want to WIN in November feeling very uneasy.

You have completely missed the point.

Did you not pay attention to the analogy of the reluctant student who gets straight A’s because he forces himself to study for moral reasons?

It’s a bad analogy and totally useless to the discussion. Who studies for “moral reasons” anyways? Is this Bible Study you’re talking about?

Doing something you don’t feel like doing, and doing it well, because it’s the right thing to do. Now do you understand? (not hard)

It’s the most important traditional American value, and what Fred Thompson is doing in running for president.
