Two U.S. lawmakers scheduled to meet Thursday with former Pakastani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and President Pervez Musharraf were advised to leave the country after Bhutto's assassination. Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Pa., said in a telephone interview from his Islamabad hotel room that he and Rep. Patrick Kennedy, D-R.I., were to dine with Musharraf and meet later in the night with Bhutto. He said he heard about the attack on Bhutto as he was dressing for the dinner with Musharraf.
"Our foreign policy had relied on her presence as a stabilizing force," Specter said, emotionally describing her death as "a real, real, real shock."...
After learning that she was dead, Specter, Kennedy and Anne Patterson, the U.S. ambassador to Pakistan, went to Bhutto's campaign headquarters, and laid flowers there under her photo.
"They were crying and they were sobbing," Specter said, describing the people there. "It's a night reminiscent of Kennedy, Robert Kennedy's assassination."
Specter described the atmosphere in Islamabad as unsettling, saying he felt apprehensive about being an American there out at night. He said he and Kennedy were cutting short their trip by a day on the advice of the State Department.

how can the yeven compare bhutto t orobert kennedy.
give me a break
Rep. Patrick Kennedy, D-R.IShouldn't that be Rep. Patrick Kennedy, D-U.I?
I agree 100%! I would advise them both to stay for as long as they like and to take part in the many violent protests that are spreading throughout the country.
“They can keep Patrick Kennedy, and Specter, too, for that matter.”
I was thinking the same thing.
Quick, secure the border. Don’t let either back in.
I’m too embarassed to say what I was thinking!!!!
I think both Specter and Kennedy need to go down to the Pakistani street and ask lots of prying questions to the locals to get a first-hand look at how peaceful the ROP really is.
Egads. Of all people. Why did we have Specter and Kennedy over there? I hope they weren’t official envoys of any sort.
I hope they get out, not only for their own sakes, but before they have the chance to mess things up any more.
OK...everyone that wants these two clowns to stay in Pakistan raise their hand!
Ha! I suspect I was thinking the same thing you were thinking.
Given that Congress is on its winter break, I am reasonably certain this was a taxpayer-funded “fact-finding” mission.
As to 'Patches', they should just give him a Toyota truck, a case of booze or two and say,
"See ya. Drive yourself to India for the connecting flight. And here's some pills to help you stay awake"."Oh and watch out for bridges. That Khyber Pass can be a b*tch. Ta-ta."
“OK...everyone that wants these two clowns to stay in Pakistan raise their hand!”
I’ve got my hand in the air!
Darn, not wishing harm to anyone, but leave them there!!!!!!!!!
2nd that.
“OK...everyone that wants these two clowns to stay in Pakistan raise their hand!”
Aye! Can we send in a couple of hundred more red congress critters for the duration?
My hand is up!
Bring the Bobsie twins home? Nah, give them some toys and send them out to play in the streets.
I think the both of them should go to Waziristan and present themselves to some of tribal leaders.
Let’s see how these liberal jerks make out.
