Condi was probably asking him when he planned to drop out due to his pathetic fundraising!

I agree with almost everything he said about Pakistan, but I disagree that Pakistan is heading toward true democracy. The terrorists are more popular than Musharrif at this time, so a democratic election could result the same as what happened in the latest elections in Gaza.

That isn’t true. Musharrif still has a lot of support. Pakistan has like here in the US a very loud minorities that play to our media. Pakistan has a lot of radicals but it also has a lot of reasonable people who don’t want to see their country destroyed for the sake of radicalism. This is one reason why the radical Islamists have failed repeatedly to win power in the past.

>>Musharrif still has a lot of support.<<

I don’t think his supporters are in the majority. Indeed, there is a good reason he has not cleaned up the lawless parts of Pakistan: he does not want his control to get any shakier than it is, by pissing off tribal leaders.

I hope he holds on. I don’t want Pakistan to follow in the path of Iran after Carter got rid of the Shah.

Ron Paul should drop out. I saw him on Glen Beck and he didn’t have a clue. He thinks we should just withdrawal from the MiddleEast and the world and everything will come up roses.
Let us for a minute imagine what would’ve happened had we allowed Iraq to take Kuwait unfettered and then we had ignored Saddam’s threats. There would’ve been no inspectors and Saddam would never had gotten rid of any WMDs. He would’ve been left to continue on with his goal of a MiddleEastern superpower. He may have not succeeded but one truth would have been certain is he would not have stopped at Kuwait.

Now we face an even more dire situation. Iran which clearly wants to dominate the MiddleEast. If we withdraw our pressure then it most certainly will development intercontinental ballistic missiles. It would attack not just Israel but more probably work to absorb Iraq, Syria, Jordan, and Lebanon. It work push for the destabilization of Saudi Arabia. It is naive to think that once such goals are arrived at that it would be happy to halt its Allah ordained conquest. What Paul suggests is a recipe for us taking huge risks. He seems to be stuck in a apologetic fairytaleland which would soon be an apocalyptic horror movie if he really were elected.

Don’t get me wrong I like a lot of what he wants to do. I’d love to see the NEA shut down and countless other agencies have their doors close but the risk is too high when he clearly does not grasp the nature of our enemies or even exactly whose side he happens to be on. A President of the United States must not be a neutral party making excuses or apologies for our very dangerous enemies. The US may not be perfect but our President need not be the lawyer for those who seek our destruction.

Musharraf knows exactly how to walk the fine line and ultimately give us the room we need to carry out the WOT , if we are truly serious about it.

We need Musharraf and Thompson is one of the few who recognize that . Just one more reason in the long list as to why he should be President .

I think many may not appreciate how difficult Musharraf’s position is.

Thompson is my second choice after Hunter.

Easy to say when you have the Democratic party and Soros possibly backing your candidate . There is big money pouring into Paul’s campaign and it’s not coming from Conservatives .....

I agree...but if they are to save their country ftom destruction, they are going to have to step up now, and take control. They are going to have to deal harshly with the radicals. The alternatives are all bad, and especially bad for them. A Pakistan in the control of the radicals and those loyal to Islamo-Fascism, can only have one response, and a response that will build into a keening maelstrom. They will be leaving no other choice. Pakistan will *have* to be attacked with everything that it can be attacked with. It will become a gaping wound on the planet.

If that is the worst thing you can say about Fred Thompson, he is doing great. Thank you.
