Today, we put him in the spotlight again by naming Gen Petraeus as The Sunday Telegraph's Person of the Year, a new annual accolade to recognise outstanding individual achievement.
He has been the man behind the US troop surge over the past 10 months, the last-ditch effort to end Iraq's escalating civil war by putting an extra 28,000 American troops on the ground.

The big news--the titanic news--is that it's impossible to deny we're winning in Iraq. Petraeus is the posterboy for that.

Oddly enough, we haven't seen Pelosi and Reid regularly praising their nation's soldiers' success in this war. Time, Pelosi, Reid, the New York Slimes, LA Slimes, et al, have absolutely no shame whatsoever. Like a house cat that turns over a potted plant and makes a mess, they will walk away as if none of their previous actions ever occurred....
I’m waiting for CNN’s Baba Starr and the WaPo’s Robin “Can I Be So Wrong” Wright to start noticing the trend.
