Can't find it online but I'm dial up cursed and it may be there somewhere. In a nutshell the article reports that the President of the University of Oklahoma is hosting a bipartisan group whose possible intent is to field another presidential candidate. The "illustrious" attendees are reported to be Bloomberg, Charles Robb, Bill Brock (fmr Tenn senator(R) , Jim Leach (fmr congressman Iowa (R), and TA-DA Gary Hart (D) of former Monkey Busniss fame and some sort of political figure in the dim dark past.
Based on what I’ve read on Free Republic and links from Free Republic threads, I think he’s probably more interested in bi candidates.
This was at the top of the Google list I came up with...

With Boren - it might as well be a candidate chosen directly by ACT UP.
David Boren is one of very, very few dems that I have any respect for.
This is my opinion only, but I think he intended to run for president in 1996. Bush’s popularity was such that no dem had a chance so he got out of congress so he could run as an outsider when Bush finished 8 years. Then Bill Clinton happened and Boren had no place in politics anymore. He came back to Okla and became president of the Univ of Okla. He has dose a very good job as president.
That kind of depends on who the major parties nominate. If it’s Huckabee v. any of the Democrat likelys, I’d definitely look seriously at someone backed by the few remaining non-loony Democrats and a handful of Republicans.
If we nominate Thompson, or (mirable dictu) Hunter, or even Romney or McCain, I don’t see much point in their efforts.
Here’s something at Free Republic...

This was front page in our local Atlanta paper. Not that I bought one. They were even implying that Sam Nunn could use it as a vehicle for an Indy run.
But then they write for sixth graders.
If Jim Leach, Bill Brock, Christine Todd Whitman, and William Cohen want to organize a group to back Mayor Bloomberg, I am all for them. Their movement is likely to gather disaffected Bush voters who aren’t likely to vote Democratic, rather than Democrats who are fed up with all the messes that BushCo made during the past 7 years.
