Amsterdam mayor says youth problem remains (police station attacked, no arrests)

Amsterdam (2 January) - Amsterdam Mayor Job Cohen says the authorities have failed in their dealings with problematic youths; so far there has been no decrease in violence. The mayor says co-ordination between the various social services leaves much to be desired.

Many low-income families have too many, for-the-most-part ineffective, social workers. Mr Cohen also pointed to the gap between the poorer neighbourhoods on the periphery of Amsterdam and the upscale canal zone in the centre.

On New Year's Eve groups of Moroccan youths attacked a police station in Amsterdam, breaking windows and setting fire to several police cars. There were no arrests.

Again riots and again a police station under attack and AGAIN no arrests made because this mayor Cohen doesn't want so. And now he has to admit all the millions and millions invested by the government didn't help at all. More evidence of the total failure of the multicultural society.

Was there any evidence of rake-caused damage at the police stations? It could have been Moroccan Amish.

Same “youths” that torched the 300+ cars in France on New Years Eve?

Maybe they try one of the great policy initiatives of our last President - midnight basketball...

If a police station was attacked and patrol cars burned here in the USA, you bet there would be arrests. There would probably be shootings.

But hey, we're talking about poor youths here. There's no tangible culture or religion that ties them together, right?

Agree. The rest of the "yutes" would get the message.

There were no arrests.

And you wonder why they keep causing problems.

Rampaging youths in the Netherlands. It must be horrifying to hear the clacking of thousands of Wooden Shoes.

No one is sick of hearing this being trundled out as a whitewash again and again?

Isn't it just POSSIBLE that some people are just NFG?

Plenty of poor people have made good citizens of themselves.

“Many low-income families have too many, for-the-most-part ineffective, social workers.”

Fire the social workers. Hire cops in their place, and make sure they’re well-armed. Tell them to shoot the lawbreakers as necessary, and to arrest the survivors. This is a solvable problem.

I think they identified the problem: not enough social workers. Yeah, THAT’s what we need!
