Mike Huckabee supporters check in here.

Posted on 01/03/2008 6:46:37 PM PST by Arcy

I for one am excited about Huckabee's leading and probably winning in Iowa! Here's a guy who has made REAL income tax reform a high priority of his candidacy. While some of the other candidates have claimed tax reform as part of their plan, non have been more passionate about the need for it and willing to make it a center-piece of their plan for America as Mike Huckabee. I believe that the average American has recognized in Mike Huckabee, a person of integrity and vision, a man who keeps his word, a man of faith, and therfore, is worthy of their support. He certainly has 100% of mine!

Well, I like him. I don’t know why he’s gotten such hatred here. None of the other GOP candidates were particularly conservative, and he is at least pro-life and socially conservative. AND a supporter of the Fair Tax! Anybody who hates the IRS is fine with me!

Good Grief. Maybe you should read this little ditty!

http://www.townhall.com/blog/g/13a3122e-dfd6-4d8a-81a3-bc8c6e11f550

(snip)

“I overheard Rollins’ conversation while dining in a restaurant called Winston’s located close to Huckabee’s Iowa headquarters and took notes on my computer. Below is a compilation of what I heard:

-He distinctly talked about going negative in South Carolina and told someone on the phone to “put some good in there if you have to, with the bad. Do what you gotta do.”

-Rollins let the f-bomb fly twice and told his blonde female dining companion a joke about flying the Confederate flag in the South Carolina state capitol.

-Rollins indicated several times their campaign was the victim of “dirty tricks” and that they were being unfairly outspent.

-Rollins also criticized another candidate as believing the Presidency was “their birthright.”

-Rollins made a phone call to Lou Dobbs and said he would ready to have drinks with him after Iowa to talk about Hillary. There also was a reference to Rollins’ recent comments about wanting to knock Romney’s teeth out, as Rollins told Dobbs “they are all porcelain.”

-Rollins also called Andrea Mitchell and predicted Obama would take Iowa tonight. He called Mitchell “sweetie” several times.

-Rollins believes Rudy Giuliani is “done,” “has no money,” and was “hurt terribly by those police cruises with his girlfriends.”

-Rollins called said Fred Thompson was “as disgrace as a candidate. Fred has been a friend a long time, but has never converted a single vote. No one is taking him seriously.”

-Rollins indicated he feels good about Iowa and that “all the sales are made, the customers just have to show up.”

-Rollins ate a tuna melt and carrot cake. His female companion picked “marbled rye” bread.”

Yep...sounds like a ‘real’ christian,,(rolling eyes)

Sounds more like a ‘huckleberry’ for Hillary Clintoon to me.

You are a daring person! LOL.

I think Huckabee is a good guy, but not sure if could support him in the primary. One GREAT thing about Huckabee’s win is that he has proven a candidate with little money can win in Iowa. Now he needs a big cash infusion to take his campaign national. That will be a big challenge. I hope he can stick around for awhile.

Color me still still undecided. I like all of the candidates, except McCain -- who has some strengths, but would be a Jacks Are Wild kind of War Chief, imo.

For Huckabee, I'll say this -- the attacks on Huck are immoderate and overwrought. They may have some truth, but the overwrought delivery makes me discount them.

Hey, Rich from the NYSlimes here. Congrats Huck!

I mean really, do you want to win in 2008?

If Huckabee and Obama are the best we can come up with then my country is further down the path to mediocrity than I thought. This is, indeed, a sobering moment for all conservatives. Ronald Reagan is spinning in his grave...

We have a long way to go, and while it was a good night for Huckabee, he has much to prove in NH.

I support Huckabee, but I also have to be realistic.

A one-state victory does not a nomination make.

Only Huckabee himself can make his case, and I only see that happening when he can present himself alongside the others.

I attended my local caucus and the turnout was huge. I’ve been attending since 1976 (early Reagan supporter :) and have never seen so many folks. I’d say there were 400 in attendance. Romney fell flat and Huckabee supporters were there in droves.

If it makes any of you feel any better, my wife did vote for Fred — so it proves we can coexist;-)

I’ve been disappointed with some of my fellow Freepers regarding Huckabee. If they have problems with some of his positions then fine, but some of the comments borderline on personal attacks, thereby breaking Reagan's 10th commandment. I’ll support the Republican nominee, whoever it is, but as for now, I’m supporting Huckabee. I love the idea of the Fair-Tax and how he isn’t afraid to talk about it. I almost get the feeling that some of the other candidates are afraid of talking about real conservative values. Huckabee’s a breath of fresh air to me.

yep...

This is Mike Hackabee:
(snip)
“Huckabee is not presidential material
James Lewis at AmericanThinker.com doesn’t think so. Here’s this little tidbit:

“A lot of people like Huckabee in person, but he looks like a basically angry man to me.

At his pheasant hunting press show he ended up shooting his 20-gauge shotgun over the heads of the onlookers. That’s just lousy firearms safety, as any hunter knows. But Huck wasn’t sorry. He said it was his way of telling Mitt Romney just “don’t get in my way.” The press asked him if he really meant to say that, and he just said it again. He did mean it.

You just don’t do that in a presidential primary. This isn’t High Noon in Dodge City. Blasting your shotgun over the heads of the press looks like an impulsive action, by a man who allows his anger to take over his judgment.

This is the same guy who’s written a book called, “Kids who kill: Confronting Our Culture of Violence.” But he didn’t set a good example by shooting off his shotgun over people’s heads.”

"** The HIGH TAX candidate!"

Yeah, but it's a high sales tax, and that makes it okay! Sales taxes are just hunky-dory and the bee's knees, it's only income taxes that are bad! Heck, why stop at a 30% sales tax—Huck should push for a 50% national sales tax so that he can fund free Jenny Craig for all America! Whoo, onward to November, Hucksters!

I’m a defender of Huckabee, not yet a supporter. I want to hear more from him. He’s right on on a couple of my key issues — abortion and faith — but I need to see that he can develop coherent positions on immigration, national security and the budget, which are the next tier for me.

I have become his defender because of the base and mindless attacks from this forum and some of the conservative pundits.

All the Huckabee supporters should savor their moment in the sun. This will be the last victory he has. He has a slightly better chance than I do at winning the presidency. There is a reason why Susas Estrich is licking her chops at the thought of a Huckabee candidacy. For the life of me I can’t understnad why you guys are so big on him when the only thing he is conservative on is abortion and gay rights. Fred’s got that, plus all the other conservative issues. And having that turncoat Ed Rollins in his campaign is telling too!

As a broken glass republican, I will say if Huckabee gets the nomination, I will not vote in the 2008 election. I expect rudeness, condensation and arrogance from Democrats. I do not want that in a GOP candidate. Mike Nuckabee is a little man with no integrity and lacking in character. He is a Sunday Christian that throws stones from a glass house. What would Jesus think? I think not much of Mike Huckabee’s arrogance. BTW, Huckabee loves pardoning criminals, letting repeat DUI offenders go, raising taxes and illegal immigrants.
