Of all the ways Harry Smith could have opened this morning's historic Early Show, he chose to do so by waving a copy today's Boston Herald with its one-word front page "Shazam!" above a photo of Mike Huckabee. Smith described Barack Obama simply as the "big winner" on the Democratic side.

In Harry Smith's defense, he didn't even appear to get the Shazam reference.
He looks like a strictly NPR hump and they rarely discuss Gomer and Barn. If it was a Garrison Keillor reference Harry would have tittered into his herbal tea.

The old guard MSM yet again showing their inherent bias, and in the very next breath professing ignorance at how anyone could see anything but objectivity in their reporting. The mask is off. The jig is up. No matter how much they proclaim their innocence, the MSM keeps asking, “Who are you going to believe, me, or your lying eyes?”

He got it allright. The mindset of the northern liberal is The South is still set in 1955, racist backwoods hillbilly Deliverance mode (God, I hate that movie!). Whit men still march in the streets wearing bed sheets waving the “rebel” flag out the back of dirty pickup trucks..........

Typical. We can’t mention hussein obama’s ears or mrs. clinton’s cankles/wrinkles/hips etc. but first thing the libs do is make fun of someone’s looks.
To: Sybeck1
I wouldn’t call him a “Gomer” like they do, derogatorily. I was raised in Mississippi.........

I’d direct those reading this thread to go watch Mr. Smith Goes To Washington again to see a critical take on how the media slurs politicians they wish to portray as a rube.

People in Boston think that The South is still full of Gomers and Hillbillies and everybody has a still out back next to the outhouse... We do. But this headline was beneath even the Herald's low standards. The folks at the Glob think the same thing, but they're smart enough not to print stuff like this. A wink and a nudge will usually do.

Huckabee is a Gomer and Im a Mississippian! Actually, I think more "Elmer Gantry" than "Gomer Pyle" when I see Mr. Huckster-bee on TV. Sorta the same feeling I got back in 1992 when I saw ANOTHER Arkansas Governor running for President.

BILL CLINTON!....BC has about as much to do with The South as Rudy Guiliani! Did he go to college in The South? No. Did he marry a Southern girl? No. Did he stay in The South after his so-called presidency? No. Did he even ever so much as vacation here? no............

Mark, did you catch C. Matthews on MSNBC last night? I was surfing and decided to watch him for the few minutes I could tolerate, and was befuddled completely.
After the Obama victory speech, Matthews’ take was that there isn’t a single Peace Corps volunteer from the 60s/70s who won’t vote for the guy, that (somehow) Obama’s success in IA is a validation of the Peace Corps program, and Obama’s election could bring the US back into the world community!
How the success of the child of TWO Ph.D’s (one American)who was educated in Muslim and Catholic schools validates the Peace Corps program is beyond me, and I hadn’t noticed that the US wasn’t part of the world community.
I couldn’t find my remote fast enough.

I see your point, RB.
I still think the main reason this is out there is because of the spelling and pronunciation of his last name.
