Bill Clinton: Hillary Can Be the 'Comeback Kid'
ABC News ^ | Jan.4, 2008 | Kate Snow

Posted on 01/04/2008 8:43:37 AM PST by COUNTrecount

ABC News' Kate Snow Reports: Bill Clinton says his wife can be a “comeback kid” just like he was.

"Absolutely," President Clinton said in a brief interview with ABC News.

"Remember I lost here," Clinton added, referring to New Hampshire. (Bill Clinton placed second in New Hampshire in 1992 behind Paul Tsongas.)

He then quickly listed off his other losses from memory: "South Dakota, Maine, Maryland, Colorado, before I ever won a state," he said.

So what can Hillary Clinton do to come back?

"Run that hard here," said her husband. "She's got a better profile here. They know more about her now than they did about me then. And I think she'll be fine. We just get out and go."

Bill Clinton did express one concern about the shortened time frame for campaigning in New Hampshire. New Hampshire's primary is next Tuesday, January 8-- just five days after the Iowa caucuses.

"I just wish we had ten days instead of five," Clinton said.

So Bill thinks she'll lose in New Hampshire too?

This is an interesting strategy...”comeback kid” even though she leads Obama by double digits in national polling.

The current polls have hillary up by a few points in NH. But with Obama’s momentum and I believe independent voters can choose either a republican or democrat to vote for, she’s going to lose NH. I’d advise independents who lean republican to vote for Obama. We can end her campaign, and the clinton reign of terror, once and for all.

Interesting. The Clinton campaign is so desperate this morning they are repeating the exact same mistake Johnny Edwards keeps making.

They just trotted out the spouse, because they apparently don’t have confidence in the candidate to address the issue of the day.

Iowa voters have been bombarded for months with many opportunities to learn about the candidates with multiple mailings, phone calls, TV ads, and stump speeches.

It’s interesting that the more facts people discover about Hillary, the more unlikeable, shrill, crafty, and ambitious she is exposed to be - and her supporters continue to shrink.

Most of America simply DOES NOT LIKE HER already. If 70% of Iowa Democrats voted against her, what will happen as the rest of America discovers how sallow and corrupt she truly is?

This isn’t the Walter Cronkite world of news reporting anymore, and the Democrats hate it like cockroaches hate the light.

Correction on you Memo to Bubba, if I may:

Keep talkin’, Spermed Gap Dress Boy. You’ve done so much for Hillary, and for most of the Democrats you’ve campaigned for. Don’t quit now. Defend her hysterically when she suffers, but then try to convince people what a strong woman you and Huma think she is. She really needs you to continue to occasionally mention her in your self-aggrandizing speeches, and to lie about her involvement in health care reform, and Irish peace talks, and whatnot. Make up some more stuff about barnstorming for America and the UN with old Grampa Bush, and lie about your initial Iraq war support, too, while you’re at it, yo?

Of course. She’s not a politician. She’s never been a ‘politician’. If not for Rudy Guiliani’s Hamlet BS back in 1999, she wouldn’t be a SENATOR.

One more reason not to supporty Guiliani, btw.

We can end her campaign, and the clinton reign of terror, once and for all.

Here's a scenario:
Clinton loses the nomination.

Bill and Hill cooperate to subtly undermine the Dims candidate in the general election.

To their thinking, they're:
1. teaching the Dims whose boss, and
2. setting up a 'Pub to challenge four years from now.

Slick Willie was 42, a young Governor on his way up, exciting, fun, and smart. The little Mrs. is old, 20 years in the establishment and never a decision maker. There is a big, big difference.

You just know that Bubba is blaming Hillary! for being such an inept campaigner. It must be burning him up inside watching her stumble and lurch through these primaries. He knows he could do it so much better, if given the chance.

You may be right about that. But if that is what they are thinking, they are wrong.

Being inEVITAble is one hundred percent of Hillary!'s appeal. The people who support her do so because they want to be in favor with the next President of the United States, particularly one so craven and corruptable as her. If there is not a strong presumption that she will win, there will be no reason for anybody to jump on her bandwagon.

Her failure to appear in person, not by the safe distance of a video feed, on the news talkies does not help her.

Her failure to take questions from other-than-plants in open forums does not help her.

Her bringing out Bubba whenever she needs assistance does not help her.

Her trying to run her campaign as a patterned replica of Bubba's presidential run does not help her.

Her using the CNN/Wolf Blitzer Debate to rehabilitate her campaign after being roughed up by the MSNBC/Tim Russert Debate does not help her.

Bill Clinton’s experience in Iowa in 1992 isn’t very instructive for 2008, for the simple reason that 1992’s caucuses were dominated (71%) — as expected beforehand — by favorite-son Tom “Bull$hit!” Harkin. EVERYONE else in that field (besides Harkin) did better later, than he did in Iowa.
