President Bush and Vice President Cheney met with their economic team today at the White House.
This economy of ours is on a solid foundation, but we can't take economic growth for granted. And there are signs that will cause us to be ever more diligent and to make sure that good policies come out of Washington.
The president stressed that Congress must keep taxes low and, if were going to lower the cost of gas, we need to expand refineries and explore for oil right here in the United States. (Transcript)
In spite of the constant down-playing of the economy by the MSM (and by certain candidates running for president)
December 2007 marked the 52nd month of continuous job growththe longest period of uninterrupted job growth on record, with more than 18,000 jobs created last month alone. (Transcript)
President Bush also gave interviews to Arab and Israeli print media today at the White House. The president will travel to the Middle East next week.
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice met with Bulgarian Foreign Minister Ivailo Kalfin at the State Department, where they signed the bilateral U.S.-Bulgaria Science and Technology Cooperation Agreement.
Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island

Quote of the Day:
President Bush: The Congress and the President have got to work together when they come back to, one, make sure taxes remain low. If there are -- if the foundation is strong, yet indicators are mixed, the worst thing the Congress could do is raise taxes on the American people and on American businesses.Secondly, we have got to understand that if we are worried about gasoline prices, we ought to expand refineries here in the United States, and we ought to explore for oil and gas in environmentally friendly ways in the United States.

Joe "Tazz" Katuzienski, US Air Force, calling from somewhere in Iraq: The Air Force has been surging to, you know, conduct our combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, and we're doing one heck of a great job. It's inspiring, Rush, to see the looks on these airmen and these soldiers' faces when you're out there with them, working with them every day, and it's not just Americans. The three-two Georgian Brigade out there in Iraq is doing just a great job, and the Iraqi army themselves, I had personal experience with. Rush, if you see it on their faces, it's inspiring, and some people may think, "You know, we've been at this war for so long right now." People just want to throw in the towel and, you know, hang up their efforts and just go home, but not so. Victory is in the air. These guys are working hard, the airmen are flying every day, 24/7, you name it. You mentioned Sluggo, my friend, my close personal friend. We're out here, Rush. We're taking it to the enemy, and it's an honor and a privilege to do this on behalf of the American people. (Click here for the complete transcript)
Wow, thank you very much :) You’re very kind. I appreciate it.
Thanks for the Dose tonight and that great photo of the day
with such a powerful trio.
52 consecutive weeks of job growth and all the Has-Been media
and the DUmmies can do is wring their hands. Pitiful!

Second: Remember that it's the MSM's mission to agitate and worry you. It appears they succeeded.
the president is saying all is well on his home front?
No, he didn't say that.
What disturbs me is that so many people out there (and a few on this forum apparently) will believe anything the MSM tells them.
It’s amazing to me that, when the msm have been in error so
many times that people still try to put their faith in them.
You would think that hard facts would trump pipe dreams.
Great Stuff!
Great group of pics, silent_jonny - thanks very much!
JONNY!
Hmmm...52nd week of job growth, and the MSM are touting the 5% jobless rate, as though it never happened before. WE’RE DOOMED!
Some people are just inclined to believe bad news. And the worse it is, the more easily they'll accept it.
But enough about that.
TGIF, LUV! ;)
silent_jonny: Thank you for the excellent guotes (from the President and one of our military heros) and photos . . . Great work per usual!!

HUCKLESCARY WIN
By INVESTOR’S BUSINESS DAILY
Politics: Huckabee vs. Obama would pit an unelectable Republican against a Democrat who would wreck our economy and weaken our security. And both have blasted the president’s success in the war on terror.
Each has long insisted that the president’s refusal to sit for tea and get to know, Oprah-style, the enablers of terrorism against our troops in Iraq amounts to locking himself in an airtight foreign-policy echo chamber.
But it was that “bunker mentality” Huckabee and the Democrats have such a problem with which is really simply fortitude, amid the cacophony of inside-the-Beltway defeatism that saved our skins in Iraq last year.

KARL ROVE TALKS TO REDSTATE ABOUT LAST NIGHT
By Erick
I just had a great conversation with Karl Rove about Iowa and the elections. He says a lot of interesting things. Two big bullet points up front, though, were that he says, “My gut tells me its still Hillary,” as far as the Democratic nominee and across the board “Don’t make a determination about the nominee based on Iowa.” He referenced Bob Dole’s effort in 1988 to drive the point home.
You can read the entire ‘conversation’ here:

It's good to see you on the Dose.
How are you, my friend?
52nd week of job growth
It's even worse than that. It's the 52nd MONTH--4 1/3 years!--of uninterrupted job growth!
WORST ECONOMY SINCE HOOVER!!! /s
:)
Yes, TGIF....and it would be even sweeter if I didn’t have
to work tomorrow. Yuck!
Great bunch of pictures tonight, Jonny. Can’t help but wonder
what it’s going to be like without our cowboy in the White
House. *sigh*
I'm posting the chart below.
Thanks for your great leadership president Bush.
I know. Whoever the next president is--hopefully one of our guys--it just won't be the same.
Just DON'T understand the economics of this thinking!
Amazing what contortions the media and the DIMS
can make of themselves to make this president look bad.
Lord, I pray not.
Great tagline ;)
....and yet...we need to be there for whoever it is. Well, if
it’s our guy anyway. I shudder to think what will happen to
our troops if it is a DIM!
Thanks for the thread Jonny and congratulations to toaster winner Conor what would you like on your toaster?
Hi, Snugs :)
Good evening, snugs - a pint of Bass Ale and a few prawns, please.
THANK YOU for posting the chart — amazing isn’t it?!
[What would the Democrats do without their MSM enablers? . . . If President Bush were a Democrat, the media would have crowned him king by now!]
“Cant help but wonder what its going to be like without our cowboy in the White House. *sigh*
I know. Whoever the next president is—hopefully one of our guys—it just won’t be the same.”

DOUBLE *SIGH*!
We’d better REALLY enjoy this year. Next year is going to
be very strange around here.
Thanks for all your hard work to keep us informed, Deb!
Glad you had the time off, Snugs! I hope you had a lovely
time at whatever you did.
What did you do? LOL!
If you said here, I missed it! :D
I am already missing President Bush when he has to leave this time next year, oh dear...what will we do. Thanks for the thread.
It has been a strange week. I’ve had that “jet-lag” feeling since Christmas. I keep thinking today is Wednesday—lol.
We better appreciate every moment while we can. It will pass quickly :-/
