Michigan has been running TV ads featuring the actor from Dumb and Dumber and several other movies. Forget his name but talk about Mission Impossible. He is trying to entice people to move to a state with high taxes, corrupt government, cold weather, and the flagship city is the murder capital Detroit.

Sorry to inform you but you the horse is already out of the barn concerning your Michigan brain drain. I live in the Dallas metroplex and have just recently completed a two year stint in Shanghai, China. Between all the upper Midwest expat’s in China supporting the American auto industry and their suppliers in China and all of the upper Midwest migrants who relocated to Texas, one has to wonder who will be the one to turn out the lights up there. Btw, these people leaving the upper Midwest and the one’s who typically have the skills, education, entrepreneurial spirit and other wherewithal to take good Texans. So, we will gladly accept these folks and the dregs can stay on their couch right where they are...

Back in the 60’s, an uncle of mine lived in Dearborn and worked for Chrysler. We visited and Dearborn was a pleasant family type community. Now I guess its been ruined by the third world invasion and drugs, gangs, etc. Too bad.

There are small concentrated muslim populations in south central/south east Michigan, but nothing to the north where the majority of the state lies.

I’ve never heard a peep out of those folks.

I wonder if the recent storm that hit CA is a 'named storm', the winds were over 75 mph and that's all it takes to get a name off the NHC hurricane list. The fact that it's in the Pacific, just add a footnote that it was and write it down. Another name bites the dust and adds to the NHC tally.

Admittedly, Florida got a little carried away with raising taxes over the last few years. Now that the housing bust is here, the governments have no more money. But then came Charlie, the Democrat, he worked as hard as he ever did in his whole life, and couldn’t come up with a tax cut that would help. Who knew Charlie was a one square kind of guy.

I moved to Michigan in 1968, after college I left in 1985, but came back in 1993 but finally had to get out in 2005. I miss the beauty and the lakes, I grew up “up north”, but I do not miss the politics or the Detroit area.......

One thing about the “migration” out of Michigan, those leaving have the work ethic and I would guess tend to be more conservative. This is leaving fewer working stiffs to support those living under the great “welfare state”.....
