TN starts early voting on Jan 16 and much as I love the conveniencw of early voting, I think a one day election would work better...
Also absentee ballots need to be curbed....
The military and bonified businessman away that day etc could send in absentee ballots, but there is too much opportunity for fraud through the mail...
Also the internet is not a secure way to control fraudulent votes....
Let’s go back to using the precinct polling places that are set up each year...Americans are getting lazy...If you want to vote, get down to your local precinct and vote...
If the voter has to present himself or herself with proper photo ID, there should be less fraud and the illegal aliens and others are not going to even try to cheat the American public...
And axe the “exit polls” and the reporting of the results before California polls close...Callifornia hears the so called “results” and want to vote for a “winner”
Actually if the times were shuffled some, the polls would all close at the same time...
TN changed ours to Super Tuesday, Feb 5....

Thanks for your post. I saw the same segment and am impressed by your ability to remember it so well. Good reporting and good assessments on your part! McCain and Huckabee did not sound very Republican, or conservative, in that segment. I expect, or at least hope for, a free market orientation. I value your insights in your last three paragraphs. A Free Republic highpoint.

I've taken to calling him The Guaranteed Eternal Sactuary Man (for any Genesis fans out there).
I believe that once the field narrows....if the field narrows, Rudy’s baggage will become an issue....

Fred had a chance to really lay one on him in the Florida fiasco (when ROmney was drilling him on Kerik) and passed taking a diplomatic stance instead, but it was good...shrug

Interesting to see in those clips how closely the Republican and Independent responses stream until and whenever the military is mentioned: the independents always fall back down then.
They’re right with the Republicans for any talk of the greatness of our country and protecting it and its values, but at the mention of the military, they drop right down. The mention of using soft power and resources to effect change in the Middle East brings them back up with the Republican response, but again, mention of the military sends them back down again.
Gee, that was nice of you. However, I did take notes during the debate, it wasn’t all from memory.
Mitt is blasted here for his Mass plan, but at least he showed some recognition of what the average working person faces re healthcare and did something about it. And that something brought down the costs in that state.
I think we all wish for a free market solution, though. Once government gets into something, you’re not going to get it out.
Someone posted that one of Cheney’s daughters was working for Fred. Good for Fred. But Mitt just won Cheney’s state and its delegates, by a veto proof margin. Better for Mitt.

I think that should be any caregiver’s right. However, if I were a caregiver, I’d have you (or your nearest relative if you were unconscious or whatever) charge it, or sign a billing contract, and treat it like any other contract. Enforceable in court. Why is health care such a sacred cow? I sign for other necessities: food. housing. clothing. Transportation. Heat/AC. I can sign for any other service I can think of.
First thing, I’d use my savings. Second thing, I’d use my credit cards. Third thing, I’d make a payment arrangement with the caregiver. Fourth thing, I’d liquidate assets. Fifth thing, I’d go to family. Sixth thing, I’d go to the church or charity.
In most circumstances, I don’t think I’d have to go beyond second thing.
It was an inside joke.

And in the event they missed Mr. McNasty last night, good ole Brit Hume was quick to remind them today. He said he expected a more statesmen-like demeanor from him but instead he came across as bitter, simply looking for one liners (paraphrasing). Unfortunately, he added, many may have missed the debate choosing to watch football. Let's hope we get an encore performance tonight.
