MANCHESTER, N.H. - Hillary Rodham Clinton lost the luxury of being polite along with the Iowa caucuses. On the ropes after a third-place finish, Clinton is coming out swinging against new Democratic front-runner Barack Obama with a vigor she hasn't shown before in the contest she used to lead. She says she is the candidate who deserves the mantle of change, not this newcomer Obama.
Sunday morning, with the New Hampshire primary in sight, she told supporters here, "There's a big difference between talking and acting, between promising and performing. Over the next three days, I'm going to be making that case."
She had made the same case just feet from Obama in a debate the night before, raising her voice and jabbing her finger as she said, "I'm not just running on a promise of change. I'm running on 35 years of change."
Obama, speaking at a rally in Manchester on Sunday, retorted to another of Clinton's comments in the debate.
"For many months I've been teased, almost derided for talking about hope," he said. "You saw it in the debates last night. One of my opponents said we can't just, you know, offer the American people false hopes about what we can get done."
"I know how hard this will be," he said. "I know how hard it is going to be for us to deliver health care for Americans who need it. ... I know we will be resisted when we try to make this economy more balanced and more fair."
Obama also sought to take any remaining thunder from John Edwards, who has been waging a populist campaign focused on blistering criticism of corporate America. Obama cast himself as distinct from Edwards and from Clinton's claim that only she knows how to confront Republicans.
"Change can't just come from anger," Obama said. "It won't come from turning up the heat on Republicans."
During the debate, Clinton's criticism got Obama and John Edwards ganging up on her. Edwards apparently decided if he can't beat Obama in New Hampshire, he'll try to join him.
"Both of us are powerful voices for change," Edwards said at the debate, rising to Obama's defense. "And if I might add, we finished first and second in the Iowa caucus, I think in part as a result of that."
Edwards didn't mention he beat Clinton for second place by only three-tenths of a percentage point. He's calculated that if he can force Clinton out of the race, he might have a chance of beating Obama in a two-man contest.
Asked Sunday about an alliance with Obama, Edwards said, "I think there is a conviction alliance." Then he added, "First of all, I wouldn't go so far as to call it an alliance. Let me disagree with that. ..."
Whatever happens in New Hampshire and following states, he said on ABC's "This Week," "I'm in this through the convention and to the White House."
He has little time before the New Hampshire primary to make up a lot of ground. A CNN/WMUR poll released Saturday found Clinton and Obama tied at 33 percent each in the state, with Edwards trailing at 20 percent.
After nearly a year of ignoring her rivals when she was on top, Clinton struck back at Edwards as being all talk and no action. She accused Obama of changing his positions and having an inferior health care plan. And again, she rose to the night's buzzword.
"I am an agent of change," she said. "I embody change. I think having the first woman president is a huge change."
All the talk stems from the results in Iowa: 51 percent of those going into the Democratic caucuses said electing someone who can bring change was most important to them, and half of those caucus-goers voted for Obama, with Edwards and Clinton each getting one-fifth. Only 20 percent said electing a candidate with the right experience was most important.
Obama's brightest moment in the presidential debate aired nationwide on ABC came before he even stepped on the stage: He became the focus of a Republican dispute about the best way to run against him. The Republican candidates, appearing just before the Democrats, said they would run against Obama's liberal positions and his lack of experience, but Iowa victor Mike Huckabee warned that Obama has tapped into a desire for new leadership.
"He has excited a lot of voters in this country," Huckabee said. "We'd better be careful as a party, because if we don't give people something to be for, and only something to be against, we're going to lose that next election."
Which left longshot Democratic candidate Bill Richardson the governor of New Mexico, a former congressman, energy secretary and ambassador to the United Nations wondering when resume became secondary.
"Is experience a leper?" he asked.

She’s the Fight Back Kid!

So, in Iowa it boils down to this: Democrats voted for a guy because they hate Bush, and Republicans voted for a guy because he's right with God.
Sheesh!
Doesn’t that photo send a message the shebeast must be separated from the masses cuz she’s much better than they are?
Is it a soapbos? hahahahahahha
That would be..............soapbox! sheesh
She's absolutely right. She has 35 years of changing stories, of changing the truth for a lie, changing better for worse.....
There are a lot of Washington insiders who have a big stake in Hillary’s campaign. And they will fight to keep their turf.
Note she has on old crusty again today. Bet after she lost in Iowa she fired her stylist and said I wore crusty every day during my first Senate campaign and I got elected. She has resorted to superstition...her black pantsuit is lucky...lol...

Someone should have pointed out to Her Thighness that everyone on that stage represents a change...She is woman, Obama is black, Richardson is Hispanic and Edwards is the son and grandson of mill workers...

Then the Hill lights up the Gilford, NH Meeting with her charm and energy!

Hey, who is that little guy standing on the soapbox. Oh, that’s Hillary!

Norm, those pictures reminds me of how the MSM covers liberal events in our area.
They do their best to make a small audience look big and impressive.
“”I’m not just running on a promise of change. I’m running on 35 years of change.”
That’s how long she has had her hand in every American’s and many foreigner’s pockets, taking all the change she can.
Hill to senior citizen, “Stanley, when I am president, my surgeon General Dr K will take care of you and the other old geezers!”
Hillary fights back - against the Democrat electorate.
I think there’s something of a generational split going on among the Democrats. The “Gen Xers” don’t see Hillary as being as wonderful as their Boomer parents do.

“”Im running on 35 years of change.””
Would someone please tell me what this woman did, starting in 1972? 35 years is such a bunch of BS. She was 25 years old for crying out loud!
Last night in the debate she said, “I took on the insurance companies, I took on the oil companies, I took on the pharmaceutials”, AND ACCOMPLISHED WHAT??? Why don’t the pertinent questions ever get asked?
She's been through at least 500 different hair styles in that period. And I hate to think how many botox injections and face tucks she's had. Plenty of change there. Don't sell her short!
That piece is one of the most transparent slant jobs I’d ever seen. First, the only poll cited was the CNN poll, all others show Obama way ahead. Second, when she finally gets around to quoting Obama, she’s quoting Obama quoting Clinton! Chutzpah!
Always good to hear from the wonderfully named Nedra Pickler. And speaking of wonderful names, B. Hussein Obama, the candidate of hype and hysteria, keeps clapping at his audiences like an old time Soviet, ready to vault directly from the Daley Machine into the White House.
Hillary’s worst enemy is...herself. And, fighting herself is a losing battle.
“There will be a woman President... but Hillary ain’t made the sale - yet.”
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
First we have to have an actual woman in the race.
Caption should of picture of Hillary and Chelsea should read: “Hllary Clinton’s and Web Hubbel’s daughter Chelsea”.
