Skip to comments.Brittany, Hillary, and Redemption

Every time theres another story about Brittany Spears infantile, self-destructive behavior, I condemn the American press for covering that subject like a horse blanket. And I watch as the national I.Q. drops two points in a day because the Brittany story is everywhere, on all channels.
But the performances of Hillary Clinton on the campaign trail and in presidential debates in Iowa and New Hampshire, demonstrate parallels between Brittany and Hillary. The comparisons are in favor of the singer, not the lecturer.
The most incredible thing that Hillary has said, in front of God and everybody, is this, I have been the most investigated, and as it turns out, the most innocent of all the candidates. There is the little problem that innocent, like unique, is an absolute adjective. It is, or it isnt. It does not have degrees.
But the larger point, and one I think the American people in the form of the voters of Iowa and New Hampshire understand, is that avoiding trial and conviction are NOT the same as being innocent. There is such a thing as a would-be defendant who beats the rap. Hes guilty, but he got away with it.
More than a majority of the voters in those first two states have concluded that Hillary Clinton is dishonest, about things both personal and political. She says she offers experience, yet she and her husband Bill, sit on the documents that describe her wife-of-the-President years.
I go further than that, and in the movie/DVD entitled Hillary Uncensored I call Hillary a criminal. Ive invited her lawyers to sue me if they think my characterization of her is wrong in any way. Be that as it may, wheres the parallel between Brittany and Hillary?
Skipping the chapter and verse, suffice to say that Ive had alcoholics in my family. One successfully fought the demon, and stayed sober for sixty years. One succumbed to the demon, and died alone of his disease.
Two things are necessary to get an alcoholic out of his pattern of destruction. One is that he has to hit bottom, and realize that he is on a suicidal path. The other, closely related necessity, is that the people close to him have to band together, state the truth, and stand ready to help the alcoholic climb out of his metaphysical grave.
Brittany Spears, and the few people around her who are friends rather than cash-and-carry enablers, may have reached that point. Shes young. She hasnt destroyed her health, yet. With some self-perception and a lot of help, Brittany can turn things around, and have a decent and sober life ahead.
What about Hillary Clinton? Her prospects are not as bright.
Hillary is as addicted to money and power as Brittany is to her pharmaceuticals of choice. Hillarys attitude toward donors is, if the bodys warm and the check is good, hes on the list. Look at the experience she has in this department. The difference between Moktar Riady and Norman Tsu is that the first one gave a million dollars in illegal money to Bill, whereas the second gave a million dollars in illegal money to Hillary.
There are minor differences between Riady and Tsu. For instance, it seems likely that the ill-gotten donations from Riady came in part from the Communist government of China through the Lippo Group. That adds another felony to the list of (unpunished) crimes. That wrinkle does not, apparently, apply to Tsu.
Next, look at the people around Hillary. Is there a single one who is not a pilot fish to her shark? Is there a single one who isnt feeding off the scraps of power that fall to the side as she swims the political waters? And if not, who does she have around her who would tell her the truth when it is time for her to change her course, and save her life?
Thats why I conclude that there is at least a chance that Brittany will be redeemed, and will have a worthy life. On the other hand, I conclude that Hillary cannot be redeemed. Therefore, for the sake of the nation, she needs to be permanently defeated. Perhaps her defeat tomorrow in New Hampshire will suffice. If not, more of the same needs to be applied in other states.
If the alcoholic cannot be saved, all thats left is trying to save others from the effects of the alcoholic. That sad conclusion also applies in politics.

I happened to catch Hillary chatting it up with Boy George this morning, giving her the opportunity to claim Obama was flipflopping on his "No Lobbyist" since his campaign chairman was one.
Boy George let her slide on her old campaign manager David Rosen who is now a convicted felon.
"There is such a thing as a would-be defendant who beats the rap.
Carl Bernstein's book, " A Woman in Charge" gave a nonchalant but detailed, sophisticated, comprehensive, and revealing account of the crimes that Hildabeast and Bubba got away with.
OJ and Hillary were both declared ‘not guilty’.
Why, in your opinion, haven’t Bill & Hill been prosecuted?
The Democrat AGs would never approve. And the Republican ones conclude, correctly, that the legal war would not be worth the political cost, and that no jury would ever convict. Therefore, the fall of the Clintons must be political, not legal.

Vastly different standards apply to Democrats and Republicans. Think about Richard Nixon, not guilty of a tenth of what either Clinton has done, yet hounded out of office.
Speaking of people who went off on the wild side and seemed omnipresent in the media and speaking of the issue of redemption; notice that we haven’t heard much from Paris Hilton lately? I’m not saying she’s turned into St. Theresa, but apparently she’s got herself a lot more under control lately.
Chris Dood, while Chairman of the Senate Banking Committee squeezed banking interests out of $13.6 mil, while running for President - all for 44 votes in the Iowa caucaus. No Republican would be given a free pass for that.
GRRRRREAT article, Congressman!
Most criminals never stop unless they are incarcerated or eliminated (or if they are young enough...counselled, advised, scolded...by loved ones). Having somewhat faced incarceration and being close to loved ones, Brittany has hope. Hope disappeared in Hillary’s rear-view mirror. The only loved ones close to her that are left are Chelsea, her mom and perhaps her siblings. Incarceration probably wouldn’t rehabilitate her. The great equalizer will eliminate her.
It’s no surprise but OJ endorses Hillary.

Nice column but the correct spelling is Britney. Otherwise good points.
excellent comparisons, power and money are as destructive [maybe moreso in some ways] as chemicals to the 'user' as well as those whose lives are destroyed by the action...
John, do you have a ping list ???
I appreciate the fact that a thousand pairs of excellent eyes read my twaddle before it gets published.
No, I don't have a ping list. A ping list is like owning a very large dog. There's a lot of maintenance required. So, that's why I put a click link to my latest column on most posts I make on FR.

"Thank You" for you willingness to attempt to serve our society and enter into the cesspool, as most good men wont.
Keep your hands on your FBI file and never forget the reasons youre going into the game...
Clinton National Security Scandal and Coverup
As the mother of two type 1 diabetics and wife of a melanoma survivor, I can't begin to describe how I feel when people call putting alcohol into one's body a disease.
I have buried a child. I know the fears you have about raising your children. But what has happened in my family is a different kind of disease, but disease, nonetheless.
