NBC ... Cancel Televised Golden Globes; Entire Event Will Be Scrapped (Dinosaur Media DeathWatch™)
Deadline Hollywood Daily ^ | January 7, 2008 | Nikki Finke

Posted on 01/07/2008 11:49:01 AM PST by abb

The Hollywood writers strike can now claim its first awards show casualty. The latest I'm hearing from my sources as of a few minutes ago is that NBC will not be televising the Golden Globes as planned on January 13th. Insiders tell me also that the entire event, even if it were held untelevised, will be cancelled. And the Hollywood Foreign Press Association instead will merely make an announcement of the winners. I've not yet received any official confirmation of any of this. But insiders tell me that NBC Universal topper Jeff Zucker and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association which bestows the Golden Globes made the decision together.

And yet another thing on TV that I had absolutely no plans of watching totally screwed up. I am trying to think of ONE thing about this strike that I even noticed. Nope, can’t think of anything.

No tv + no ability to tell the rest of us how great they are = no show.

How are we supposed to do our thinking without the writers and the entertainment industry. What if choreographers strike, will we be unable to dance. What if architects strike, will we be unable to build gov’t buildings.

100% of my TV time is spent watching Brit Hume-60 min x 5 days, History or Military Channel for about 1 Hour after Hume ends, Sunday football (Go Giants) and that is it .

I could not possibly tell anyone under penalty of death when was the last time I watched a network show of any kind.

I’m waiting for the Socialists to strike and to put a halt to their own agenda.
