Elephants are free ranging entities, not herded or bred. Humans have little control over their existence. As such, they do not respond to the same premise as domestic cattle, etc. They do not bread in greater numbers as their stock diminishes, they just become fewer, and fewer.

I’ve jocularly suggested feeding the obese to the starving, but I’m surprised that Zim is (sort of) taking me at my word.

Really? This podcast, http://dlc.sun.com/seti/podcast/AWA_07-12-24.wma (or larger http://dlc.sun.com/seti/podcast/AWA_07-12-24.mp3) has a segment on using DNA from ivory confiscated in Asia (don’t they have their own elephants?) to track back to where it was poached from in Africa.

Yes, it’s the SETI “Are We Alone” show.

Any way, the guest goes alarmist, throwing out numbers on the African population decline.

So, I’m surprised ivory could be harvested at all.

IIRC, some thirty years ago, there was a news photo of an African country burning tusks “liberated” from poachers.

Of course that would happen if no one gained control of the animals.

But people already have put herds of them together all around the world. If their meat becomes desirable, or their ivory becomes legal to sell again, more and more herding will occur, and their numbers will increase.

Why should we expect an outcry over the death of Elephants? No one complained when the murder, rape and pillage of White Farmers was going on in Zimbabwe...
Just because the media didn't get alarmed, doesn't mean it didn't happen.

No one on the Left has spoken out so far - and no on the Left will speak out against the regime in Zimbabwe.

After all — it was the LEFT who demanded the exit of colonialists and to turn over those thriving economies to the “locals”...

Remember the demands for “Home Rule” — end of "White Ownership and Management" and the worship of the Communist terrorist Mandela?

Well the left achieved their goals......
Africa has home rule..
Africa has once again become a basket case...
Africa has failed to succeed in managing their own fate.
Another unfortunate reality and "unintended consequence" of the "GOOD WORKS" by bleeding heart Leftists..

Who are we to be critical?
Remember - All cultures are equal...
All religions are entitled to respect....
