This whole thing shows the supreme stupidity of the sudden death primary process that the Clintons, along with many others, favored. It just turns out that they’ve been hoist by their own petard. Obamamania, given a reasonably prolonged primary process, could run its course. As it stands now, he could generate enough hysteria to carry most of the remaining primaries, something that would be far harder to do if he had to run successively, week after week, in many where his manifest weaknesses could be revealed. The same, of course, is true for the Huckster and McCain.

The front loaded process is truly horrible because it eliminates the absolutely essential vetting that candidates went through in the past, a vetting that can only happen when they actually run against each other in repeated primaries. Congress and the President must take hold of this process and stretch it out again.

This is case of "in the dark" -- the dark being Obama's unproven history in any leadership role, and of his ideals and character, beyond the soundbite -- THIS cat is evidently BLACK AS BLACK CAN BE. As McDonald's is to fast food, Obama is to blackness, at least in the racial franchise of popular culture.
